New to the forum - Here's my car

Hi All,

Like the title says I'm new here - I figured I'd say hi and post some pics of the car - 02 ABP type s - I got it a few months ago, it has ~65K on it now, and I have only replaced the stereo so far (Alpine HU with Ipod hookup in top armrest compartment, 4 Clarion 4way 6.5, kicker solo baric 10 L7) and added the bmw style lip spoiler - more mods to come I just don't have it in the budget (I also had to pull the tint off to pass MD inspection, that'll be the first thing I get redone). I do all work on my cars myself and forums like these are very helpful. I hope I post these pics right.

Nice car! Love that lip spoiler. The color in your pics are a little off, but you can fix that once you have the funds to buy a nicer digital camera

Very nice TL! And welcome!

This is absolutley the best place to learn all about your TL. I just bought a 1999 TL and this forum has been a great help.

Also, do you leave your iPod in the compartment when it's playing? I bought an iPod for my TL and I'm looking into the different placement options.

Thanks everyone - the camera is actually pretty nice (nikon s3) I got it for my GF last xmas cause it was small with some pretty good features - I'm just a noob with it and don't know the settings, and as you can tell it was very very sunny out that day so the reflection makes the pics look off.

I have the ipod nano that I keep in that top part of the armrest (i'll take a pic this weekend) and but my gf's 30gb video in its wrap around case fits fine in there as well, I don't think there are any heat issues and the new cable that links the ipod to alpine HU is fantastic - i can control all play and play list functions right from the HU. Hindsight I should have paid a little more and got the alpine dvd HU and run video to the nav screen but live and learn. I think I might run cables to hook up Ipod video to nav screen instead of buying a separate dvd player but we'll see, I'll have to look at some other set ups before I decide. I have a strange sickness where i love to take my toys apart, it seems most members here have that same affliction

no problem - I also have a question - maybe I should start a new thread about it - when I was first building my audio system I had a duel amp setup in the floor i built into the trunk. I had an EQ installed in the coin tray section in the front controlling the amps (that small kenwood one) - it fit great but the whole package was just too much for me so I ripped it out and just use HU to power the speakers (remember on budget) - anyway the problem is this - I completely destroyed the entire coint try section and the metal backing behind it mounting the EQ (never thought I would remove it) and I need to replace that whole unit which runs from below the factory radio location around the shifter to where it meets the cupholder - I know I should call a dealership but I don't want to pay through the nose to get that piece - anyone know what that's called and where I could pick it up for cheap? I can't find it on hondaacuraworld or acuraoemparts. Thanks!

edit - it looks OK because I have a screw holding in the coin tray - it doesn't open and it's a pain holding change/fuses in the cupholders

Welcome and nice ride. Wish I had known about this site before I bought my tl, but I'm still happy with my color choice.

As for your lack of a coinholder, you can use the arm rest compartments. Don't need to hold everything in plain sight. Cars get broken into that way. Imagine finding a window broken and your coin holder/cup holder the only thing stolen in the morning! Although it does come with a cover, best not to leave em there.

Thanks again for the warm welcome

I know I have a lot of work I want to do, I know in the near future (6months or so) I'll most likely do:

Replace my tint
H&R springs + new shocks
DVD/Nav conversion
Ipod video input to DVD/NAV
Paint Brake Calipers
New tires/mount/balance (upgrade wheels if I can afford it)

Nothing too crazy just some things to help the ride/look. I'll post my progress.
