its a general roof rack. you can also mount snow boards and some other stuff.

 

Simply for looks.. lots of people just get it for looks. but the bike rack is pretty useful.. comes in handy sometimes..

:shakehead No you don't. A hitch rack is the best thing for your car. The roof rack looks nice, but in the long run, it's a lot more work to maintain. The bike is more difficult to mount on the roof, obviously, than on the rack behind the bumper. Also, the roof rack will attract much bird droppings, etc., plus all of the cleaning that goes along with that...on the ROOF of the car, no less. It looks nice, but it is actually more inconvenient.

Plus, the chances are fairly significant that if you mount your bike on the roof of your car, and you park your car in a garage, you'll mess up your bike and your garage door.
