LED Dash and Puddle Lamps

Finnaly got around to doing a couple this past weekend.

Converted the dash and a few switches to LED using the new bulbs over at

http://autolumination.com/74.htm for the gauges and the type a neo wedge bulbs for the switches. Used all bright whites, and used blue for the status inidicator on the fog light switch and cruise switch.

Not that bad illumination for plug and play.

Also got around to installing red puddle lamps. Did these in red instead of white since it goes with the Red Led lamps i have in my JDM spoiler. I have these hooked up to the dome light circuit so they turn on and dim just like the interior lights.

Looking P-I Mike!!!!

And to answer the ^ question.. I think is it is to show that the ground is wet if the reflection of the lamp is distorted. (waves/movement in the puddle)

Those LED's weren't bright enough for me, they always seem to turn out well in pictures though.

Nice.

I have the hyper white puddle lights.

I just need red carpet to roll out when I open the door.

Those switches don't look that bad. I'm going to do that eventually in my first gen so I can finally finish off my interior LED conversion. Good work!

how much did you spend in total for all the in-dash led's? did you do it yourself?

I wouldn't recommend LED's in the dash unless you can get ontarioTL to do them for you, I put the stock bulbs back in because I was that unimpressed by the LED's and trust me I wasted way too much time in money trying to get that sweet look of LED's in the gauges. All of the other components, cruise, sunroof, climate control and the clock worked out great.

Looking good. The LEDs turned out well - do they look that good in person? Can you post photos of your puddle lamps and how they're installed?

For the dash. Yes they are definatly not as bright as the custom job ontarioTL does. But for someone who doesn't have the time,or the know how to do it, this is a simple plug and play. I didn't rub out any filters just used bright whites to give the blue effect. Since i dd my car i can't be without a guage cluster for the time it would take me to do the led dash the way ontairoTL did. So for now these are the next best thing. There is really no hot spotting in person, and i'll try to see if i can get a more truer representation of the brightness with my camera.

For the puddle lamps, yes they are jlevis, for 25 bucks i couldn't pass it up since i've been wanting to do them. I sorta followed how one the members on the tsx fourm did his. I used pvc pipe to house each puddle lamp. I then decided to protect them even more by cutting out some covers out of lexan so nothing will get kicked up into the puddle lamp from the road. Then i secured each one down with epoxy after i drilled out the holes in the side skirts. Then i just ran the wires through the car, instead of all the way around the car like the person did with the tsx. I just ran them up under the back seat and then a simple 2 wire connection at the passenger side fuse box makes them work they way they do.

slick -- yeah idid the same but the way i had them spaced on the skirt i needed to add lengths of wire between each lamp -- so much work lol. 2 of my passengers sides are out now -- maybe a bad connection somwhere since it flutters.

not long at all, just pop the bulb out and put the new led bulb in. Longest part was puting the cluster in and out to check and see if i put the bulbs in the right way.

wondering the same thing. if the dash/gauges are brighter than stock, i'm definitely going to do this since neither do i have the time or knowledge to do what ontariotl did

I bought a set of puddle lamps off of jlevis a couple years ago and never put them on. Theyre just sitting in my trunk. lol. Seeing this tread makes me want to put them on now.

To me yes they are brighter than stock, but that might be because when i pulled my old stock bulbs out they where black so they where on they're way out. I will try to get some better pics if i can.

Yes i had to drill holes in the side skirts of the puddle lights since i didn't want them hanging from the bottom. I got them from http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com

Looks Nice! Great Job.

I too am wondering what you got for the bulbs.
I recently did my own and got plain #74 bulbs and have a lot of hot spots and dead spots.

Again, Looks Great!

EDIT: are they the Tri Power?

Thumbs up

Time for me to learn how to pull the dash in my TL and get some LED's. My clock is out so it's the perfect excuse.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to start my project in the next couple of weeks.

how many bulbs do you need to do the gauges and things. Also are the gauges the only things you can use these bulbs for as far as the interior is concerned?
