Just Getting Started...

Just got this car last week, dont know what to do with it, open to suggestions. The only thing non-stock on the car is the new head unit I put in and a K&N Air Filter. Im thinking HID's and im looking at the white/red taillights. What else should I do. Everyone on here seems to have really nice looking cars, hopefully you guys can help me out!

Heck yea!
FirePepper Red in za houzzzz!
And it looks to be in really good condition too, and I was surprised at how well my paint held up.
As for building it up. Take it easy, no rush  in one whole year all I have ever done is in my signature.
And were all here to help you!

Welcome, looks to be in great condition! The car has factory HIDs already, do you just want a different color? I's start with tint, tails, drop, ect. All depends what you want out of the car and what look you want.

Im thinking about getting the aftermarket HID's mine are getting a bit dull anyways. What percentage tint would you recommend. I want it as dark as can be, but i am worried about night driving.

173,000 The tranny got fixed at about 40,000 i think. All the miles are highway on cruise control because my dad had a 40 mile commute each way. For city is it normal to be getting like 15 to the gallon. Just had my first fill-up. Maybe its just my driving style though

I think that i will do that, 35% in the front is the legal limit for California. 20% seems to be a good amount too. Thanks!

Oh man a 99-01 front. So underrated. So many opportunities for that. J front, mugen/inspire/saber grill, Oem kit. the 02-03 tails would be a nice start. It would flow with your cars color since its fpr. Research is your best friend! Good luck homie.

Car looks clean homie.

Start by lowering it, check out the black market for used parts at a great price. Actually, the link on my signature will get you to some great suspension.

My only worry about slamming it is that when i am pulling into a parking spot the bottom of the lip will scrape up against the curb. Where i live theres quite a few speed bumps too. Lowering it two inches isnt worth 700 bucks to me. Is there something im missing?

...... to solve ur curb issue just back up into the parking spot. when I was slammed to the ground I was still able to go over some curbss (I never did it though) and that's with 3"tips sticking out 5 inches

A 2" drop should not make you scrape at all, and ff1 is not even close to costing $700.

Speedbumps will not be a hassle at all, trust me.

getting the white/red taillights tomorrow, will order the HID kit from HIDXTRA when they go on sale for christmas on the group buy. Will be getting the car tinted this month most likely. Just got license recently and the money I saved for upgrades is burning a hole in my pocket. Stopped by pep boys a week ago and picked up a K&N air filter. Put an engine cleaner in the gas tank last fill up. If i was good with splicing wires and all that jazz I would do the cup holder LED mod and put some LED's in the car. Just got a $30 radar detector off groupon, if it works once it pays for itself was my reasoning. http://www.amazon.com/HDE%C2%AE-Blue.../dp/B007OWGA4C
these look cool because they are sound activated to go with the music in the car to pulsate accordingly but there is only one cigarette lighter so it appears it will not be plausible. When i look into getting new wheels a little down the road what dimensions should i get. After 18"dont they look a bit big for a low-ish car Will the car automatically sense that the wheels are bigger and adjust itself to accurately display the MPH based on RPM?

put white-red taillights in, will post pictures probably tomorrow. Next step is tint. I am contemplating getting a Valentine V1 Radar detector soon as well. NGK Iridium spark plugs as well soon. does the 6000K 8000k or 10000k look best for headlights? At this point im going for aesthetics mostly. The sparkplugs will give me better mileage hopefully too.

What are you guy's thoughts?

i dunno man, i really like the 8000k bulbs. They have that nice blue tint that i really like. Whichever bulb that is decided on all I need to do it hop on hidextra.com and pick up the replacement bulbs, because the car already has factory HID's. Why do you say 5000K bulbs?

I had 6000k bulb's before and they were too blue for my taste! Also on wet roads it's hard to see with 6000k. I switched to 5000k and they also have hint of blue to them. I am sure you will like them! The online pics of 5000k to 8000k doesn't help cuz in person the light output looks way off in color comparison!

Anything above 5k in my opinion is frowned upon. For one, you're glaring others, despite it appearing to be "brighter" you're actually putting out less light. The higher you go in the color spectrum the more aggravating it is to the eyes. Stick to the oem 4.3k or the 5k. You're in San Diego, many enthusiasts with very low cars are from there, being low isn't an issue. IF you're so concerned with being "too low" you can just get shocks+springs.

Welcome to the forums, take your time modding the car, and don't buy unnecessary bullshit.

In case anyone was wondering how the White/Red taillights turned out... i love them, the reverse is REALLY bright so it makes backing up a breeze

Whats next?
dropping it or getting better wheels
im thinking getting some 18" black rims and the legend calipers in front painted black with the silver rotors with the deal going on, sorry for picture quality being so crappy, they were too big to upload so i had to bring the quality of it down.
