I have a 99 TL and am about to put 20's on it. i also wanted to do some stuff to the engine. I want to increase my horsepower to at least 260 if not 300 from 225. I am already going to put cold air intake but wanted to know some other things i could get to increase my horsepower for cheap. I don't want to supercharge it or put a turbo. Please reply and give me idea's. I am clueless.

Nah bro....don't do 20's. Besides the fact that you will have rubbing issues....they just don't look right. Infact, they look retarded. Definately get 19's.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of cheap mods to increase HP.

Comptech Icebox- provides more HP and TQ then a CAI $250

Headers- Comptechs are around $1000 but you can get some identical one's for around $400

Exhaust- Complements the headers

Pulleys

You should be in the area of 260 HP with these mods

 

If you are gonna do it, then go with 20's. They will not rub that bad. I say 20's and a 1 to 1 and 1/2" drop. I am thinking of going with 20's on my 99TL, the wheel wells are big enough to do it. I have seen 20's dropped and it looks right. 19's are one inch short of pimpin with 20's. People with 19's just don't want you showing them up because they were scared to step up an inch. Do It, and post the pics when you do.

 

I don't want to have to say I told you so. Most shops won't even let you put 20's on a TL. Why? Because they don't fit. Plus you are spending all the money, you best make sure you spend it wisely. Don't just get 20's becasue you want dubz.

 

20's...your insane. There is nothing you cant do with a jig saw and duct tape. Good luck.

 

I put 20 inch lexani krystals on my tl finally, looks good as hell, it sticks out a good bit but there is definitly not as much rubbing as I thought, will have some pics soon!!

one of the mods should have it... the guy that owned that TL-S was from miami. as a matter of fact the kid was at my house the other day. he doesnt have the TL anymore though.

 

.. i think these rims should be kept on suv's :p im curious to see pics though cause i wanted dubs but my friends uncle put his dubs on my car and it made my car look like one of those beaner cars...and it rubbed like crazy. Now my rotors are warped for the second time for my stupidity
