Comptech Axleback Exhaust Installed!!!

I bought my Comptech axleback's from Excelerate on Monday (thanks, Josh!) and I installed them last night. It was a BITCH removing the old exhaust because 6-7 years of rust forced me to cut off every bolt, even after soaking them in rust remover for a good hour or two. You can see the rust in some of the pics. But the Comptechs are on now, and the sound is awesome! Not too loud, not obnoxious. I am !

Any comments?

nice! how much do these run for? And are they actually beneficial for performance or just for sound?

Thanks for the comments guys!

I got mine for $595 new from Excelerate (check the sponsored vendor section in the Black Market). Used ones may go for $300-400, but good luck finding a pair. They do add a LITTLE bit of performance (1-3 hp), but the looks and sound are what drove me to buy it.

Looks nice, but i prefer the old style comptech mufflers. The ones that are straigh thru and dont have teh bend in them. (allows for more fun)

Speaking of which i really need to clean mine up. yours are nice and shineeeeeeee

I was actually wondering about that, because I looked up pics of older Comptechs and they say "Comptech Sport" on them, where as mine only say Comptech. I was wondering if they changed the design. Also because any sets made on Jan 1 or after are given a 3 year warranty, where as any made before then only have a 1 year warranty. I need to look at a pic of the old style vs. the new style next to each other.

Haha dude, no problem. I have had the car since '03, and it was bone stock except for a K&N filter for 3 years. But now that i've graduated from college and making money, I'm splurging a bit. Have you seen some of the other cars on this forum? I think they trump mine by a LOT in terms of mods and cost.

The main difference is the exhaust inlet is dead center. the pipe thru the middle isnt curved at all, its straight thru

Thanks, but I won't be able to make that for two reasons, 1) My car got totaled (check the thread in the main Second Gen thread section, and 2) My brother is getting married that weekend. But hopefully I'll end up in another TL and I can actually go to a meet one of these days! I couldn't go to the RonJon one because my girlfriend graduated from college that same day. But here's to hoping !
