BBK kit is on!!

Got the BBK kit on Wednesday and painted rears then dropped off my car to roll fenders so didn't get it back til Friday. Zaino'ed it up and took pics on Sunday while doing my camera runs at the Shoreline.

Click for bigger picture...

And what I was really there for.... lunch + dinner

How have you found the brakes? work well? better response?

Nice tires too BTW. How long you had them. I have the same ones (inch smaller though 235/45 17). Have you had a good experience with them?

if i'm looking at that right, the rotor slots are facing the wrong way (should be 'slicing' into the pad) aka driver and passenger are flipped

good thing only 30 percent of the braking force comes from the rear~

Different makers have different opinion on slot direction- rotora and racingbrake use opposite of each other

Their main purpose is to allow outgassing of pads at temp under heavy use, a side benefit is the cleaning of the pads surface.
The outgassing can be high enough pressure to push the pads off the rotors in most extreme useage--which better be standard braking with that nice setup~

Where can we do some door to door testing of different setups- without getting hasselled, and besides a trip to Thunderhill? Oh if anyone does want to go to Thunderhill- PM me!!

The brakes feel stock... up to when you need them. Also the OEM squeeking problem I had is gone. They really do require less punching near the very end but yeah, a cone measurement is the most accurate thing to do. Tires are my second set. I love them because they are IMO the best money can buy for dry/rain. Hella expensive though compared to counterparts. I've been through bridgestones, yokos, bf goodrich, and pirelli and still love michelin even though it hits the wallet $242 each + tax.

Good looking out man. I'll definitely look into it. Those are the driver side in the pic so I guess I'm backwards according to your pics?

True, but almost all braking is done in front. Didn't think buying the rears was worth it. Decided to save up but who knows, if there's a good condition used set in the future I might be crazy enough to do it.

I'll ask the rotora guys since I'm not sure. let you know shortly about which direction they say is right for rotora.

Why not. There's a meet actually this Saturday too if you check out Bay Area Meets. If not we'll set something up.

The main thing I learned in my meandering is that the venting vanes are what determine directionality. There are theories for the slotting, but if the vanes are straight, it is moot. On the other hand, the vanes, if curved or angled/swept, should be directing air outward from center (ie. looking at the hub, the 12 o'clock vane should be swept toward the back of the car giving centrifugal air removal). Mine are opposite yours, but that is not always pertinent.

P.S. looked at the rotora site and didn't find an answer.

When I had my BBK the slots go forward, the rotors (bought new) had a 'L' and "R" sticker on them and yours are on backward from the way I had mine on...

Shown here: (Front left)

I found a manual on it and also the guy who sold these to me had the same as you and the diagrams shown. Not a problem as I will have my uncle's shop fix that. Good looking out

I think I"m done... this car will ride me out until it dies or until after I buy a house. Still holding out hoping Acura will come out with a model around that time that appeals to me more.
