6000k vs oem 4300k HID
My OEM ballast & ignitor got short circuited, but I was just 2 months over warrenty. So instead of replacing it at the dealer, I got a complete aftermarket kit instead.
Here is a comparison pic between aftermarket (left) and OEM (right). The aftermarket kit that I got is from McCulloch and the bulbs are 6000k D2S. I love how there's a slight tint of blue!
The rusted oem ballast
Mounted the new ballasts right on top of the existing ballasts (the OEM ballast covers a big hole at the bottom of the headlight housing, and I didn't want to bother covering it up with something else...so just stuck the new ballast on top...)

i.e. Aftermarket is on passenger-side headlight, OEM is on driver-side headlight
so far at night, i don't notice a difference, except that everything looks whiter
keep in mind that the bulbs are D2S

Our HID uses D2R bulbs. The D2S bulbs are made for projectors, however you can make a slight modification on the base of the bulb to make it fit to our housing. As for the brightness between the two, people claim that the D2S are brighter, but IMHO they look pretty much the same.

yea..there will definitely more glare from the d2s bulb, you may want to adjust the headlights so they point down a little more...but it's up to you...you don't want to be blinding oncoming traffic...i have the same mcculloch kit, but in my fogs

The D2S's are not corrected, the projector that they're made for corrects the light. I have a D2S in my passanger side H/L and I don't really like it it has a "halo" looking beam patern instead of the flat line but it is a tiny bit brighter.
Oh yeah, your 6000k's look sweet.
