"Beautifuru" car mrmako. By the way, what part of Japan do you reside in? I lived in Japan for 3 years... Also, what is your honest opinion about he build quality of "American" cars? Are there a lot of rattles? Any reliability issues? Just out of curiosity.

Well, I lived in Europe (Germany) for 8 years before coming over here and I owned a 1995 Chrysler LHS (great car), and a 1998 Volvo V70 (really fast for a 5 cylinder...125mph no problem). I have some perspective, and US cars are getting alot better, but damn if GM doesn't put out cars that are, well, BFU.

The foreign cars have their own issues, but I have to say my 2 Honda'
s (the other is a 2001 Odyssey that was not sold in the US) are great with zero problems........

Yes, I work for Uncle Sam, but I am not active duty.

Arrow The Engine again

On this shot, you can see the J25A sticker on the side of the belt housing

Wink Last one...Unless there is more demand

Any more pictures and I'll need a Colo-rectal exam

This is the last thing: Here are the factory books with the key and fob. Now, I took the picture on the passenger side, over the Saber carpet (another dealer accessory). The first owner paid a mint for this thing (accessories are VERY expensive here).

Comments are always welcome, criticism is summarily discarded.

Excellent, glad to hear. My family and I actually were stationed in MCAS Iwakuni for a while. We had a wonderful time and I am very much looking forward to going back some time when time and funds permit.

Looking forward to more of your pictures, the car looks wonderful! A few quick observations, I noticed the A/C controls were in English while the Navi buttons were in Japanese, interesting! Also we don't have TL's here with cloth, both the TL-P and the TL-S came with leather standard. In addition we do not have the rear shade as an option.

Well enjoy your new ride. Sorry about all the questions. Ever since living in Japan I have always been impressed with their innovation and ingenuity. You're so lucky to be living there

My last text only entry here (this is a picture forum). You have to love what Chrysler is doing....I mean, a butt ugly or lovely looking vehicle (based on opinion), but they'll stuff a 5.7 or 6.1L Hemi... Just for grins.... I'm waiting for a Hemi powered Crossfire

Not really a Ford fan, but the new 'stang is nice looking, but a 10 cent interior brings it down.

Rear shot

I live by a hotel, so that is what is in the background (not a love hotel either )

The tail light effect was because I used red-eye reduction, but it does look cool. The real color is the same red as the lower portion.

He could actually start a business exporting JDM parts and what have you, to the Acurazine community. He would definitely make a killing!

Quite a few folks on here are trying to make their car look like a Saber or Inspire. I really have no desire to make mine look like a TL. Now, lowering it and doing a few things is OK, but too many conversion crazy people here. I like mine because, in Japan, Honda's are kept longer by people, so they do not have that many that are used.

Example: The Lexus GS300 is a Toyota Aristo, and loads of guys here put the LExus badges on it, same with the IS300 (Altezza), RX300 (Harrier), and the SC400 (Soarer).

I'll do some things, but I won't buy a TL kit soon....

I may start pricing some parts, but the cost would be HUGE for me to buy (all parts here are expensive), then shipping is outrageous. But I'll look into it

Exclamation Navigation close up

Here's a close up of the navigation system. The unit is trunk mounted (the only part of the car that I have not posted), and if you want to adjust the fan speed, you use the touchscreen.......

I read Japanese!
I see one of the Navi Button is TV~~~!!!

Is it not illegal to watch TV while driving? or it only activates when it is on Parked position? How is the TV reception, do you only get the local channels?

In US just to have TV in Navi, you have to pay a lot of money to get TV Tuner hooked up to our Navigation System and it is illegal! Unless you are in limo or something.

The TV function does work, but there are safety catches.

1. If the engine is off, then the TV will work.

2. If the engine is on, the parking brake must be on to get a picture (sound works regardless.

3. If the car is in Drive, no video. Even parts of the navigation computer do not work. You can't drill down into the menu's (like finding the nearest McDonalds, which this will do), just move the map and set a route. Once you come to a complete stop, then the other menus work.

Now, I could always get an aftermarket unit here, and the TV will work all the time (I see people watching Japanese dramas while driving, and shaving of course).

The TV reception is OK, not great. If NHK and OTV (Okinawa TV) are your thing. The military TV station does not work on this TV. Too bad. I'd like to watch some baseball, or hear it at least, as I drive to work.

Nice, I wish our 3rd Gen TL came standard with the TV tuner like yours.

Whats the square box right underneath the the center of the Navigation screen, is somekind of Biometric thing that read your finger prints and unlock the navi or something?

Its good to have you here, we all are very happy to hear real Japanese quoting on our cars or your cars.

I used to live in Japan for 18 yrs in Kobe City. I am going back to Japan in a week actually.

That thing is actually a temperature display. If I hit the auto button to the left, it will read out a temp in degrees celsius. I adjust the temp up or down to get into my "comfort zone".

I'm not Japanese, although my wife is Okinawan. I'm from western NY, but I have not lived there since 87'. And the funny part: Go Red Sox......(I may be chastised by NY forum guys, but the MA folks in the Nation have to go to bat for me)

Nice car.....you should put some TL-S wheels on it. It's strange to see a car with navi that doesn't have leather.

Do you also have transmission problems???

I love the wood steering wheel. I wish that was a option when I got my car. Also love the side markers and the painted mud flaps.

Also how much power does the 2.5 V6 make. That would be awesome if honda offered that in the TSX.

Good catch. It is a small compartment for a garage door opener and loose change (need that here for the expressway).

No tranny probs as of yet. The manumatic works well, but the shift delay (once I select the upper or lower gear) is about 1 to1 1/2 seconds, so that gets annoying.

Now, one thing I notice is if I start off in manual mode, 1st gear, it will not shift up automatically (even at redline, around 6400 rpm) . It will hold the gear. Does the TL do this? Do I have a different tranny? This might be given it's a 4 speed automatic, and in D, I'll be in 4th gear by 35 mph.

The information from the Honda website states 147 KW of power (200 PS, which is about 210 HP). Here's more info:

Type: SOHC VTEC
Size 2,495 cc
Bore and stroke: 86 x 71.6 mm

The popular thing here to add things to a car is to go to the junkyard, but I can find out how much some of the unique parts are for this thing. Just to give you an idea, Honda brake pads, front only, ceramic, are Y8,160 (about $80)....Yikes

Talking Another shot

I posted this in my other thread by mistake. this is from the passenger side, and you can see the "lovely fabric pattern" of the seats. The seats are fairly supportive, but I wish they were a bit lower in height (I think their for Japanese, which are smaller than my 5'10" frame.....

All '99 Acura TL (and I assume which also includes the '99 Saber and Inspire) hold the first gear at redline. We need to manually shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It is the 2000 and up TL which has the automatic gear shift from 1st to 2nd.

Red face Thanks

I thought it was a bit odd, so this means my tranny has the same programming as a US model, but I think my gears are alot higher (can't drive fast here). I do like if I forget to downshift, it will put itself in 1st once I stop... Does this happen to you guys as well?
