I just bought a pair from Ebay last week, installed it and noticed that the lights don't even f*cking match. The left side is lighter than the right side. The right side is more of a cherry red than the left which more like a tomato red.

If the seller is willing to exchange then it will take at least 4-5 weeks till I get something back from him. Or I can ask him to send me ONE light before I send him ONE back because I don't want to go back to the old look. Or get a tint film and make it match the darker tail light.

Anyways see it for yourself.

wow.. those two reds are SO off! wouldve looked hot if they did match though. you should keep the dark red, it looks alot nicer since you have a darker painted car.. but its up to you. but you should DEFINITLY call that guy back up and give him a bad feedback on ebay. that is screwed up for even sending a different colored set. wow.

EBAY dont suck is the seller. I would ask for a refund or exhange for one that matches. If nothing happens leave that foo a magative feedback and you can alwats repaint them yourselvs. A bottle of transparent red is like $6. That is if the seller dont do ANTYHINg there is still hope. Just spray a new layer on the lighter one and spray a light coat on the darker one so they match. Thats all no biggie.

Looks like the left one is a knock off. I believe you're correct on that fact that the OEM ones are more cherry red (too lazy to check on my car) but I'm pretty (95%) sure their the darker ones.

 

ebay dont suck its the seller.. make sure you sort this out cuz he will loose a lot of business if he dont take care of this for you

 

I'm not going to do anything with the taillight - the seller will have to resolve this error. Ebay will act as the mediator, if I do proceed to report a dispute. My claim would fall under 'item significantly different from the item description' so I shouldn't worry about getting a taillight exchange. Usually a seller with high ratings (this seller has about 4000) would rather resolve a minor dispute rather than risk having his account suspended, thanks to eBay's Standard Purchase Protection Program, and I may be eligible for a reimbursment up to 200$.

So far the seller has requested a picture of the taillights which I have already done so with the picture above. I'll keep you posted all.

We are currently in the process of negotiation as he will gladly exchange the taillights. No shipment cost is incured and shipment will be express. I have to pack my taillights and re-install the old ones until I get the new ones back. He is sending a UPS guy to pick up my taillights and as soon as he gets receipt of the pickup he will send me new ones, so it should take maybe 2 weeks.

So we'll see in two weeks.

For those who are comtemplating on getting '02 taillights from ebay - well its not that bad, people make mistake, I suppose. This seller has been 100% co-operative and hopefully he won't make the same mistake with this shipment - knock on wood.

I just got a set from ebay and the colors matched. However, there was a 3 week delay in shipping because of the mismatched colors.

Delayed because the seller kept on getting mismatched tails from the manufacturer. So he delayed shipping it the first time. My seller was IVM1 .

yep just ordered some off of them also, he emailed me saying that theres a mismatched batch and hes receiving more tomorrow, and sending out a pair ASAP, but we'll see.

 

That's pretty bad. Oh well I hope he gets his shit all straighten out before it ruins his reputation. I'm still waiting for mine so we'll see in a week. (Didn't I say that already?)

Well let's see here...

I initially won the item on April 8, 2005, waited about two weeks to get them so we'll say April 22, 2005. I realized they were mismatched the following day and notified him. Didn't send them back to him until April 28, 2005 (end of the month).

Its now the May 9, 2005.

I project getting these taillights by the end of this week. ( )

UPS provides a tracking no. for the shipments so I've been checking up on it daily. Today the package made its way to Ontario (Canada) which is my province so it shouldn't take very long. My package to him is on its way as well.

The agreement was to have both packages shipped at the same time so that they wouldn't be any delays. He wanted me to ship him back the mismatched taillights and from there he would send me new ones so as soon as I got a tracking no. for him he gave me his tracking no.

I had an evil idea at first to send him back my old taillights and keep the mismatched taillights and just sell them on ebay as individual taillight but I thought it would be unethical.

Anyway.

Yeah your car will definetly have a sportier look after you install your new taillights. Hopefully sooner than later. I want to get a DVD player for the car but I would only get the ones with a detachable face, due to high theft ratings around my area. I'd have to get an alarm and get the windows tinted as well.

Nice setup though.

Do you find that this color doesn't even match either ones from the previous picture? It seems like a color in between the tomato red and the cherry red. I think this is the OEM color.

In conclusion, Ebay is okay, if you have the time and patience (like me) then its worthwhile. There are some good sellers 'out there' so don't be afraid to buy online.
