XS headers

I installed the headers in like 2 hours and was suprised at the results. I also have my cat gutted out, resonator and pre-muffler removed. But I have the stock mufflers on. Its sounds really good, not that loud but pretty deep. You take the mufflers off and it sounds like a 1984 El Camino with cherry bombs.

Congrats.... mine went smooth too. Took about 3 hours by myself. Then I sold em to Frank (2K3_TLS) and it took about the same amount of time to remove the headers from mine, remove his stock ones, install the headers on his, then install my stock ones.....

wow that was drawn out....... good job..... again.

The resonance is only from about 3500-4000 rpms. But i cant tell whether i like that high pitch tinny sound or not. I guess it sounds pretty mean.

headers have make the most power out of any mod on the tls, about 18-20hp i think. imo i would stay away from the xs headers, its hit or miss with the problems and quality is sub-par. ive had nothin but issues, where as some people have none. i would look into the new DC 3 bolt design

Really what kind of problems were you having? I figured they were like tissue headers. I mean I know you can't expect the same quality but for the price of the comptechs you could get like 10 of these.

when i looked at the headers before i installed them, the inside looked like someone hand dremeled them, so unsmooth. even had some metal scrap rings i had to fish out. instalation took forever because fitment is terible, off by about a 1/4 of an inch. resonace is very bad, and has a bees in a can ricer rattle at WOT. ive taken them on and off about 4 times trying all kinds of remedys posted by other members, they help but my car still sounds like a civic.
im going to cut my losses and get the DCs.

did you ever order the header wrap? i guess they're hit or miss. mine have a little resonance, but only at lower rpms and only when the engine/exhaust is still cold. after a few miles of the exhaust flowing through, the resonance goes away. a lot of other people have had them installed with no issues

Well, let me know if you don't use it so I can get about 20 ft of it for two cars. Did you end up buying the 50 ft roll?

Having your CAT gutted out with XS header can this cause any problem to your TL? I got my CAT gutted out so I cause pass my state emisssion so CEL wouldn't stay off. B/c I cann't afford to new CAT at this time. Any draw back that could think of having CAT gutted out with aftermarket header

Wouldn't having a gutted cat make your CEL come on?

Well in my case the CEL was ON an couldn't pass State emission test so I got friend to gutted out CAT to trick computer in car an OBDII that every was running right. Today after driving over 100 miles I finally got to retake my state emission test an pass. By the end of the day I have driven a total of 225miles with still no CEL.

Where do you purchase the new bolts and gaskets? Been reading and seems the hardware that comes with the headers are crap.
