Who makes the best cold air intake for a '03 TL?

I know there is the comptech one for about $280, but i didnt know if there was a cheaper one or a better one. Also the comptech one doesn't have on for a '03 TL, its an 02-03 TL-S or a 99-01 TL.

injen and aem are good... some say aem some say injen. i have injen no complaints. best bet for a free mod would to take the resonator off and pop in a k&n filter. it sounds just like a intake and it still looks stock. i might go back to this route just because i would like to have a stock looking engine for peice of mind if any thing did happen.

comptech is prob the best for performance but not sound.

every thing is a trade off.

I've had AEM and just recently switched over to Injen. I like the fitment of the Injen better but I would say AEM and Injen are probably neck and neck. Same gains, if any, and same sound.

AEM and Injen make similar cold air intakes. Both look aftermarket and are loud. AEM and Injen make intakes for both TL-S and the TL-P. The one designed by AEM for the TL-P, the V2, is probably the loudest. These inatkes utilize a cone filter which rests behind the bumper. Due to the location of these filters their is a greater risk for your car to hydrolock. However, hydrolocking is rare, and you must drive through inches and inches of water for this to become an issue, inwhich cause you will probably have other problems aside from your engine hydrolocking.

Comptech makes the Ice Box, which looks stock, isn't as loud as the previous, but yeilds the greatest gains. It's filter resides in the engine compartment thus hydrolocking is not an issue.

I've owned both the AEM V2 and CT Icebox, and I felt the V2 produced more gains... of course this is very non-scientific, but take it as you will.

As far as sound goes, I like the CT better... The AEM was way too loud for my tastes, and produced a humming noise at idle. It's also easier to access the Icebox's filter for cleaning.

IceBox is the Better CAI of them all. the comptech does fit the 02 and 03 also. not sure why its not listed. they are the same as the other years. Only the type-s is different.

Definitely considered the best by a lot of members, but I like the sound of the Injen...especially when it hits VTEC.

Just to be clear... by Hydrolocking you mean, water getting into the engines? Cause thats one thing I am really afraid of. I live in Florida and hurricane season can cause a lot of those issues.

Yes, that is what hydrolocking is. If your car is parked in your driveway, and the water is high enough for it to flood it(your car), that will probably mean your house is flooded and you will probably have water flooding the rest of your engine(not via intake filter) and it will flood your car interior.

I live in New Orleans...I'm not worried about it...if my car engine floods due to a hurricane I have bigger issues to deal with.

Nope, that won't hydrolock your engine. You would have to submerge the filter to hydrolock. And if you think for some reason you might run into a problem where you may suck water in through the intake, I would just disconnect it from the throttlebody. I would rather be sucking in dirty air than water.

Cold Air Intake, Headers and Exhaust would be the easiest way.

This is what it looks like. It is under the part of your intake where the filter sits. It's easiest (and the only way that I know of) to pull the front bumper off if you want to remove the resonator. Very quick job...probably about 30 minutes.

I just put an Injen CAI on my 02. There is a noticable increase in responsivness, power, and sound, but of course, all for the better.
