duh, dont you know car manufactures put restrictive parts on purpose!!!!

and yes, you could go custom and build a true dual coming off the headers.

You can build a true dual but it will hang pretty low because there is not much space underneath, which could be problematic if your car is low/slammed. My car is at an exhaust shop right now and I talked to the guy for a while about this. I can't do the true duals because I would scrape everywhere, even with normal driving.

^assuming the stock piping is 2.25 and most go to a 2.50 to even a 3 inch diameter, im not sure why it would be a problem...

two 2.50 inch tubes would have the same clearance as one 2.50 tube, as far as bottoming out. the length didnt change, but the width did.
so if you could fit at least 5 inches wide, it would work.

New headers come with a new J pipe which will be much better than stock. Id go this route for ease of install and cost.

I am the only guy with true duals and NO scrapes....if the guy knows what he is doing, the exhaust will be tucked in pretty well....

with true duals DO NOT go more than a 2.25" tubing....

so a single splitting into 2, do a venturi tube merge into a 3" and let it run where it splits to 2.5"....

Swoosh, I just looked at your exhaust thread and the 3G and 2G look pretty different from underneath. It looks like the 3G has a lot more room. Fsttyms1 I believe is the only one who has done a true dual on a 2G (from the cat back) and I remember his hanging lower than the stock exhaust.

There's also the issue of running two cats. From what I've read you can't run two cats on a car that was only designed for one. Unless you go catless like Swoosh, you might run into issues.

I found Kris's thread

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/exhaust-mods-493556/

He also deleted his cat. The larger muffler will only fit where the cat goes.
