Question What short ram intake should I get?

I've had my car for a year and haven't done any mods other than an audio system. I decided that I would get a short ram intake, but I dont know what to get any suggestions?

why a short ram? If you absolutely want teh short ram i say get an intake that you can turn into a short ram or a cold air, i.e you just detach/attach a pipe to make the transition. short is pretty much pointless unless you have a ram air hood or a ram air duct right in front of the filter

Do the Xmod on the intake.

Get a K&N filter that fits the piping and put into the box.

Sort of a like a poorman's icebox.

remove the resonator too.

eh you can shell out 200+ for a CAI that gives you 2 hp or you can get a SRI and get that nice intake swoosh and use the rest of the money for spacers or something

I got my CAI off ebay for 130 shipped. Its was a practically new AEM and works great. I'd look around and get a full CAI

Don't get the SRI, get either an AEM or Injen CAI. Icebox is good too, but a pain to install, and you don't get the agressive sound at VTEC crossover.

Short rams do nothing but make noise on the J-series. Cold air is a LOT better.

Just remove the lower intake resonator/--a/k/a The Great Restrictor of Airflow!

With that gone there are 2, 3 inch diameter openings in the bottem of the stock airbox,
slip a K&N filter in the box and your set
The car normally pulls air from down low in front- then puts it thru the resonator box- then to the air filter
With it gone- the entire cubic foot area in the inner fender becomes air storage space for on demand flow to the engine
Cost- free
does not effect smog- cannot be seen by police- makes nice sound in vtec

I had a CAI on my J30A1 and it doesn't felt any difference compare to my SRI, however the SRI make the car louder at WOT while its much more quite when I had CAI.

Short Ram For Ya'

I got one from Bomz Racing for about $28. Real easy to install and pulls way more air. It will take a little while for the computer to adjust to it so relax if the idle is too low; it fixes itself in about 2 weeks. Good luck!

How is the cost free? asking honestly because I'm in the same boat and am looking for a mod...
air filter cost money and removal of resonator does too so...

The way to really test the performance of an Intake is to do so on the track. The dyno shows SOME improvement due to restriction alone, but on the road where there is a constant flow of cooler air is where the gain is made.

I can drive on the highway on an 85 degree day open my hood and touch my Injen CAI near the filter and it's cool, only slightly warmer up top. If it sits and I do the same everything is hot (heatsoak)
