if you read in other threads, i state how hard it is for me to get "butt hurt" haha. i said i appreciate the negative opinion. your input was negative because you told me i should of bought the CAI. thats why i'am on this board, i know nothing about modding, imports etc... a CAI will suck hard in my living conditions no? and obviously wouldn't be great to run it in my winter seasons aswell right? it's a "mod" for now. my car is bone stock with tinted tail lights. it's an upgrade for me, probably useless in your guys' eyes, but its a step up for me. i probably won't notice anything off this, and end up doing a CAI next year, but i'll worry about that later. no feeling were hurt chief. i enjoy "debates"

iv had the opportunity to run both a short ram and a cold air, short ram def has better throttle response due to the short ass pipe over a cold air. its loud and does free up restriction over the stock air box. only problem iv had was low end tq loss and power drop off at upper rpms compared to my cold air. the cold provided much more consistent air temp over the short, which resulted in better power curve. so now iv been running a cold air for over a year, prefer it over the short ram but not by much.

looking for an answer on this...since i plan on having lets say an "intake" (CAI or SRI) for year round (30+ summers, rainy summer (take my shitty roads into consideration) and -40 winters) what do you suggest. how prone are CAI's to getting water in them? don't say it depends on the driver because in some situations things can't be avoided. how much longer or how less hotter (if it can be) will be my car to either heat it up, or will it reach normal heat potential on highways? again, this is all for suggestive purposes, if CAI wins, then i'll be getting one in the winter to install in spring along with headers.

I have an SRI and I prefer it over a CAI. Sounds great, and I'd like to believe it's provided power over having stock because I do feel it and not in a "Placebo effect" type way... I'm not racing anyone to say "I have a CAI and I have more power than you"... Most of us get either because that's part of the "Acurazine Makeover"... If you have a TL in here, we expect you to have something in it. Unless your some racing god, you'll barely notice a difference with either route.
But I went SRI because of price and because my area does flood and my car is lowered... I may not hydrolock, but once you do it'll be too late.

You wont have to worry about any of that. Cold wont be a issue as your Throttle body is heated by coolant (I have never had a issue in cold weather and i have driven in -30) Water wont get to it unless you drive into a lot of water, puddles wont splash onto it and even if it did it wont hurt it. You have to submerge the filter to do any harm. To do that you have to drive thru well over a foot of water. How often do you do that? And if you do you shouldnt be doing that regardless!!! People have heard TOO many bad stories about water. Use your head and dont drive into lakes.

basically anything over the stock air box makes more power, im sure an air cone attached directly the TB would

I have the same intake. I have had it on since the day I bought it (the previous owner installed it) so I can't compare with stock to gauge performance value but in any case I LOVE the sound it makes and it looks amazing under your hood. And like some other guys on here have said; SRI or CAI it's bound to be an improvement from bone stock
