Voltage Stabilizer & Grounding Kit. need info.

http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/13196

hey, just wondering if anyone tried these types of applications on a TL
grounding kit, Voltage stabilizer, or both.

doesnt have to be this specific one on the link, but in general

does it work,
is it a gimmic,

just want some info from Real customers, instead of reading what is typed by the producers.

I bought a SUN HVS MR off black market, it is great. My idle is mooth and I do feel the HP gain. You can custom made your own HGS by using bigger gauge stereo power cable and some gold o rings. There some members who do not believe a capacitor or better grounding can yield performance gains, but they do for me, way higher than my axelback HKS.

hey tunedtl, I have been interested in the hyper voltage system, do you need both the the hyper ground and hyper voltage to have a benefit in HP? what is your setup and was it hard to install. Wiring is not my thing, so I would just buy the kit. any tips would be appreciated.

You can get partial benefit by installing either HVS or HGS.
From the negative post I have two leads, one going right to the front chasi and one going to the throttle body... from the throttle body I go under the engine cover to the to the metal brace of the alternator... from the alternator I go to the side passenger side chasi, where some other wires are grounded on the side wall... from there I go to the passenger side strut tower.... from the strut tower I go to the back of the engine block.

Yes, I have super dragger, good deep tone and not too much noise on hwy. I don't have a picture, but if you search, you will find El Pana/TL32 has posted picture of the HGS

back in 2003 they yielded an extra 10hp on the subaru RS from improving the grounding system with aftermarket parts IIRC. i know my friend went right out and bought new cables the day after he read it in sport compact magazine or wherever it was.

in short i know that grounding can make a world of difference. but some of the stuff on ebay is in fact a scam so 'caveat emptor', or as some of you may know it: 'buyer beware'.

let us know how it works out for you if you do it. i'm thinking of getting the phenolic spacers and redoing the grounding in a few weeks myself.

I have HyperGround and HyperVoltage MR
The mounting points :

1. the passenger side fender near the windshield washer fluid to...
2. a bracket right behind the power steering pulley to...
3. the front cylinder head below the PCV pipe to...
4. the transmission to...
5. the negative battery terminal to...
6. the stock grounding point behind the driver's side headlight.

Those are the mounting points of the ... Ground kit.

BTW, HGS works by improving your grounding by using bigger and better insulated wires. HVS is a glorified capacitor with circuit protector, works by smoothing out the voltage spikes.
Various vendors, e.g. SUN has posted dyno gains, if you have done other major mods, do these electrical improvements will yield gains independent from intake/exhaust.

no, not specifically. If these things do anything at all, it will be the same no matter your other bolt ons.

as ou sig said, HGS and HVS improves different parts of the car, that is what I mean by "independent". I am not sure if anyone want to spent $170 for a capacitor, but it is a no brainer for me to buy an used for $75. My car idles smoother and even see slight mpg gain.
MR for multi-range, HR for high rpm, LR for low rpm. MR is the most expensive, I suspect different capacitor size is used for HR and LR, MR has both. They are not model specific because I bought a LR for my SUV, the instruction manual is the same.

No I meant can you take out old grounds and replace them with HGS kit because I read DYI and it says to keep old grounds and add onto them with HGS.

this is great info, im just waiting for a used one to hook it up, im still not sure where to hook it up if i do it myself, can anyone provide pictures?
this is something that i wanted to do for a long time, but havent had the time to really do.. do all the grounding systems on all cars have the same mounting points?
yes, i am not to keen on paying 170 dollars, but i will pay around 100 for a decent one, which i would prob have to buy used.... well keep us posted

HVS is easy to install, just loosen the + and - terminals and connect to HVS leads. SUN has circuit protection so if you are dumb enough to connect the red wire from SUN to - battery terminal, nothing bad will happen (SUN's claim, never tried myself, don't plan to either).
Install HGS, just replace the stock ones with bigger and better cables, I am not sure why you want to keep stock ones on since they are smaller gauge wires and probably needs replacement anyway. No special tool needed.

Yes Apex does make a grounding kit, I have pics if any one wants to see what they look like.

...and I can get a pretty sweet deal for members if anyone is interested, let me know.

If we can get 5 people together,
$135 plus whatever for shipping.

If we can get 15 people together,
$125 plus shipping

These retail at $249 and usually sell for about $160ish
Hope that helps, just want to help out some members.

This is for the Apex ground system, the units I have are actually the JDM versions, but pretty much look just like this:
Click here to see the US version

The only differences is the light is blue instead of red, and it says "Versa Cruise" on it as well as having the APEXi badge. I have a picture, but don't have a way of hosting it right now.
