Underbody tray?

Howdy all!

Someone had mentioned to me that since I'm planning a poop-load of mods, that I should get an underbody tray made for the car. I don't think it's something that's really needed from searching around, but I just wanted to know of any pros and cons to this idea.

Off the top of my head:

Pros:
- smoother airflow under car
- protects underbody from random debris
- looks pretty cool

Cons:
- cost
- doing maintenance on the underbody would be hell with that thing on & having to take it off anytime you wanted to do work down there.

So... any thoughts?

For the front or back?

Either way, its not something I would spend a whole lot of money on..

Dunno... not very knowledgable about this subject so I thougt to ask y'all.

I dunno if anyone sells thes sort of things or if you have to custom make one to your car, but it can't be THAT expensive can it? It's just a big 'ol piece of metal afterall... So maybe what... $200 or so?

none are made for our cars. if u just get a plain sheet of metal, all thats gonna do is stop debris, u need to get marks in it to direct the air flow to the the back and then u could get one in the back to exert the air straight giving u a more stable ride at higher speeds.

A co-worker brought up the issue that salt and water could build up under there and cause the underbody to rust up. I assume if it's done properly as you're suggesting to get proper air flow, then that wouldn't be something to worry about?

Really, does it even make sense to do this mod from a performance standpoint and also from the standpoint of protecting your underbody?

i dont think its really worth it on our cars
i'd just make sure you either go through a nice touchless car wash or spray a high powered hose underneath you car during the winter to get all that crap out of there.
