Turbo TL Stage 2
What's up everyone. I know I haven't posted much on the turbo setup because I have made some changes on it. There will be a stage 3 however I will just have the mods modify the title when that comes about in a few months..
The new changes is I will getting a new turbo, new intercooler, new intercooler piping, new wastegate, new engine management system, new injectors, new bov new boost controller, water/meth injection kit and last but not last a new motor. I also have a nitrous express ntercooler kit but I don't think I'm going to use it. That's stage 2.
I went to the professional engine building shop who blueprinted my new motor and took some pics.
I'm using the J32a2 Block and Stock Crank. I'm also getting some custom work on the cylinder heads which I will explain in a month or so when the work is started.
Wanted to Thank Kris for selling me the ones off his Tl-p motor to use.
So the block consists of:
J32a2 bare shortblock(with stock crank)
Custom CP Pistons
Custom Crower Rods
Darton Open-deck Cylinder Sleeves
Here is a pic of them removing the cylinder sleeves on one side, I didn't want to get that metal crap on my clothes so didn't go tooooooooo close
Here is a comparison of the Crower Rod vs the stock rod.
Here is a pic of the CP piston(9.0:1 compression ratio)
Here is some pics of the Darton Cylinder Sleeves. The first pic is one of them. The second pic is 2 more of the 6 sitting next to the crank...at least I think its mine, can't remember. lol
....look at that ferrea stuff, lol

Motor should be able to take around 900hp(the new parts being used) however by no means are we going to attempt to get that much power out of the motor. The max power would be up to the 6 speed transmission and the stock axles that will be used. The car also will also have 19 inch rims, bbk in the front/rear, etc ...so its by no means a track car but i don't believe it will have any problems hitting 550-600whp with the turbo that is being used and the increased redline, etc. Car will be running 10psi daily however won't be a daily driven car actually I'm trying to calculate how long it will take me to put 1000 miles on the new motor once its complete.

that block looks clean man. remember to get your crank polished. all that work and you didn't just drop in the 3.5 crank/rods? imo, you got the custom pistons/rods, why not push the 3.7? don't take that as negative, still a badass job you are doing. not many will pull a motor and work it to the bone. you will be very happy, mine felt like a new car and i don't even have a turbo.

Naw, I didn't see the purpose to send the extra money on the 3.5 crank...my original intention was to swap the j32a2 bottom for the j32a1 bottom on my tl-p motor, but later decided..what the hell, just build it. I got a deal on the j32a2 shortblock from Serge. Using a 3.5 crank setup wouldn't give me 100hp so I didn't see it as worth. At this point, I can just turn up the boost a 1psi and make the same power if I had a 3.5 or 3.7

Your car sucks.............. j/k .
My car sits just like yours, about 90% of the time in the garage lol. Still waiting to see the 500+whp. Hope everything goes smooth.

The new mods listed in the original post will be
Turbo: PT67 DBB(Precision Turbo PT67 modified to Dual Ball Bearing such as the GT35R). The GT35R has a better turbine with the new GT technology however the PT67 will provide better top end power. It will be a little lagger but the Dual Ball Bearing setup will help with Spool Time. The compressor side is similar but the PT67 wins this battle, 67mm vs 61mm. I have seen some pretty good #'s on this turbo being used on 4 cyl motors and also supras' and is300s.
Intercooler Piping: Originally used 2.5 inch however they are going to try to fit 3 inch piping now.
Intercooler: Originally had a top-bottom core intercooler however I'm looking for a more aggressive look, so they may make me a custom side to side one or I will get the Full-Race top-bottom one for the RSX. Not fully decided yet.
Injectors: Originally was running 370cc s2k injectors however this setup will consist of 750cc RC injectors.
Wastegate: Ran a 38mm Tial Wastegate and now upgrading to a 44mm one.
Engine Management System: Went from the piggyback greddy emanage to Electromotive Tec3r Standalone Ecu
Boost Controller: Originally had the Greddy E-01 which I liked alike however swapping to the Apexi Avc-r which has a psi per gear feature where you can set the boost level depending on the gear you are in.
Blow off Valve : Had the HKS SSQ, nice sound however heard good things about the 50mm Tial BOV. This is the same one that Thinjim uses and it sounds ok so I will be swapping to that. Haven't heard about any leakage issues regarding it.
Water/Meth Injection Kit: Honestly, haven't decided which one I will use to be honest.

Wish I had the money and time to do even a fraction of what you have done. With the possibility of nearly four digit HP, I'd say that is NUTS!!! Dying to see the progression of this project.

The HKS SSQs will be fine and you may want to opt running 2 of them 1 before the I/C and one closer to the throttle body (if at all possible - not sure of clearance). True, the Tials are a great piece, but the HKS have never let me down even at almost 700rwhp. Best of luck with whatever you choose to go with!

The turbo also has some killer top end grunt as well and will be plenty to feed that motor of yours. I'm running 18psi on pump gas in the Supra which has put down ~525rwhp. Race gas and 26psi saw ~660rwhp. You will definitely love this turbo!! Out of curiosity, what A/R on the hot side are you running? .68 or .81?

Here's a few videos of that turbo on a the civic I was referring too. Don't know if they still work though.

I can't remember if the precision pt67 dbb version is .84 or .81, but for some reason I think its .84. I'll check when I get home today from work.

Naw, the traction issue should really be a problem in 1st and 2nd. The 500-600whp would be on the dyno. Don't thinK I will ever try to run that much power on the street. Car will be running between 8-10psi daily..not sure which one because it depends on what the spring rate is on the wastegate. If we can figure out how to get the boost controller working by gear...it will be 8-10psi in 1st and 2nd...and the high boost the rest. I will at least run the car at the track a couple times to see if I can get some times for it.

As for traction, even though you're not going to be running alot of boost, I can guarantee that 8-10psi would be enough to cause some violent wheel hop. What type of suspension setup are you going to go with?
