I tried that found out some members have done it and are banned and some ppl start there turbo setup and explain it on a thread but they don't finish or list parts or cost or anything. So basically what I got from searching is save up like 5k go to a shop and have them give it a try.

How much boost are you going to be pumping?

If my small knowledge of Honda engines is to be trusted (and it probably shouldn't be) isn't 17psi about as high as you should go before things go kaboom in a j32?

wrong. the boost is at 5.8psi and i don't believe i will be turning that up anytime soon.

you have to remember with the j32, these are high compression engines. the j32a1 has 9.5:1 and the j32a2 (the one i have) has 10.5:1.

we'll see if i have any traction issues, maybe spring 2012 after i get my bachelors i could build a j35 lower the compression and turn up the boost? i dunno. that's a bit of time away.

probably not the answer you're looking for, but you might be better off supercharging your engine instead, since there's already the CT kit out there giving ~4-5 psi boost which is pretty safe for type s engine.

were you planning on installing the turbo yourself?

so there is really no point to turbo the motor best to go all motor. S/C are 4500 you can buy a faster car i love my TL cant do a baby turbo motor is to big blow the turbo. Cold air striaght pipes and maybe a upper manifold for a newer TL

I'm sure you can easily do 10-12 on a good tune.. 5 psi is pretty low.. that's what comptech s/c puts out, right?

I'm at 8psi (sc) w/ 440 injectors & emange blue. Others who went this route without tune went boom.

btw 5psi isn't "low" 1psi = 5-8HP+/-

First off, will you be using stock internals? If not, you have the option to push more boost.

Depends on the application, boost isn't necessary a good thing. the m90 blower makes more power at less boost than the m62.

Stock boost on the SC is in the range of 3psi.

You can go turbo but to have a decent setup you will want to pretty much make your own or have someone do it. Great gains can be had if done right. Dont think that "Only" 8 psi isnt going to be worth it. Forget that other cars from the factory run 17.

most of those cars with that much boost are 4 bangers anyway, they need that kind of boost to be that fast.

lol, I'm just saying I think it's low boost.. Trust me, I know a thing or two about FI.. I've built quite a few and tuned quite a few cars for my self and others... AND yes, I know the m90 is going to make more power then the m62 with the same boost.. It's like a gt45 making more power than a gt28 with the same psi..

All I said, was that it is low boost nowadays, compared to a lot of cars, stock or not... our cars see good power cause they have high cr engines. so we don't need too much boost, and is harder to push more boost because of the cr..
