True dual exhaust?

Hi, im looking to do a custom exhaust and was wondering if anyone has done a true dual. i have a buddy that will weld everything i just need some help on what to do about the catalytic converter since its illegal to drive without one, what size piping to use, what to do about the resonator, and mufflers... Im new to modding so any little bit will help.
Thanks in advance.

true dual huh...

i'd buy a set of ebay headers to chop up..

get two small high flow cats.

then the rest is up to your friend.

or you can do what fsttyms1 did

one problem with that exhaust is there are no cats? i thought we need cats to be legal and with my luck i will get pulled over and have that checked. where could i put a cat, or cats? and have the same flow...

i think there is an issue with putting 2 cats on our cars. it has been discussed before.

even the RV6 true dual system for the 3G TL only has one cat.

Does it mess with the ecu? and where should i put the 1 cat if i were to do something like the exhaust above? And could i use the stock cat? or would i have to go aftermarket?

You'd probably have to go aftermarket or custom for the cat, since I'm guessing the TL's cat has one pipe in and one out. I think it'd be easier to custom fit two smaller cats, like jjashaa said.

TBH I don't see the benefit of fatty's setup there, one pipe in the cat and two out? Wouldn't a single exhaust be more efficient?

Nopeeeee

1 cat is legal

There is a large cat and a small cat.
The small one can go.

The small one on mine is gone.

I don't think it's about the number of cats, as opposed to simply staying legal

wtf are you talking about... 2G has only 1 catalytic converter...

#3 in diagram below..

if anything... run 2 or even something like this..

that could act as an X pipe as well assuming it crosses over inside. and get o2 bungs welded in and run defoulers.

if you're so worried about smog.

don't touch anything.

So would it be better if i just went with a set of headers and do a mid muffler and res delete? i am just looking for more flow and a little nicer sound. i was considering a dual for the flow but i think that will be way too much work.

thank you again for all your help.

if you're looking for a nicer sound... leave your mid muffler and resonator in (iirc... tl-p doesn't have a resonator only a mid muffler..)

headers are a good start... you could also get a xlr8 high flow cat.. its easy to install and take off..

I Was/Am considering this to replace my setup and run true dual when i put the new motor in. Im not a fan of the exhaust smell without one.

don't do the mid muffler delete

you're car is gonna sound like some riced out high pitch civic with rasp

you get drone from aftermarket exhausts.

i'd suggest doing headers and high flow cat.

if you want to do an exhaust.. you could go custom..

2.5 ID piping to 2.25 Y split and two mufflers of your choice.. magnaflow seem to be popular.
