I just ran against my friend's Audi A4 and as you can see he beat me. Whats wrong with my car? What can I do to beat him?

You should read, search, and browse these forums and set a goal for your car. The basicas are CAI, headers, Intake manifold and TB spacers, Exhaust, Pullies. A Type S will have better gains over a Premium. The Audi A4 1.8T is a quick little car.

well maybe the fact hes pushin 17psi might have to do something with u losing. if u do all the mods listed above u might be able to stay with him. i usually pull like that on a TL non type S.

the heavy hunk we have was never meant for the track, the v6 barely lugs its fat ass around. the mods that we have do squat, i dont know much about A4s, but from what it sounds, it's turboed?

Check it, the TL-p is SLOW!!! THE END. The A4 comes stock with turbo, granted its only a 1.8 liter engine verses your 3.2 liter VTEC motor, but that 1.8 liter engine with that turbo makes a big difference when it comes to accerlerating, plus the Audi is a much lighter car weight wise as compared to our heavy ass BOAT of a TL. The TL is much longer, wider, all around heavier. If you have bigger size wheels on your TL then he does, that also will slow you down. Were you on a full tank of gas? Half a tank of gas will cut down some weight if anything. Once his turbo starts spooling thats when his turbo really kicks in on the acceleration. You can beat the A4 though if you get an intake, headers, full exhaust and changer the crank pulley. That should do it if anything.

You could beat a stock A4 with no problem most likely. The fact that he has an aftermarket turbo is the reason you lost. You could turbo your TL, and spend an arm and a leg in the process. You might have a chance after that, but the Audi is much easier, and cheaper to draw power from.

a stock TL-P should have no issues takin a stock A4 1.8 espicially from a roll.

My stock 5at TL kills a co-workers near stock A4. We're talking stock vs modified here and anything can be made fast with enough money.
And I have to disagree, the TL responds worse than any car I've owned to mods.

ok first off with the A4, that thing could easily put 340+ hp and and an equal amount of torque and thats to the wheels. If your friend just has a chip that puts him to 217 and i believe 249 foot pounds of torque. Just the torque alone will launch that car way beyond our wildest dreams...... but like everyone has said....our cars arent meant for that kinda stuff..... I mean come on, the fuckin things didn't even come with a stick.... and your gonna tell me that this was made for the track.
Anyway, a stock A4 should be able to have its ass handed to itself even against a tl-p. The 99-04 A4's only have 150-190 hp depending on which model you get and year (the 04 model came as an S-line)......

Oh and our TL's responds well to mods, just like a def person responds to a whisper. The only things that the TL responds well too would be headers, pulley and forced induction. Everything else is just a waste of time but will eventually add up to 10 maybe 12 hps. The audi on the other hand responds very well to mods. 500 bucks and you get almost 40 horsepower, and about 70 foot pounds of torque.
Once again these cars werent meant for that kinda stuff. Our cars were meant to look good, and feel good, and some guys thought it would be fun to make them go faster, so they made some shit for it.
So lets all enjoy our not so fast, but somewhat fast cars.
Although I think a pinto is faster then my car now.... cause its gotta a broken tranny. Oh well.

Any turbo car can be made much faster for minimal $$. For instance, I'm looking at the Legacy GT as my next car with the turbo 2.5 flat 4. Stock its ~250 hp, 250 torque (factory rated) which is about 210 hp, 210 ft-lb at the wheels. With the addition of an up-pipe, down-pipe, and a tuned chip (stage 2 mods), they can put down 270 hp and over 300 ft-lbs at the wheels. And with a few more things, 300+ whp, 350 ft-lbs. Its soooo easy to mod a FI car
And thats why the A4 beat you - he's done a few mods that gave him big time power gains (especially torque)
