Timing belt and water pump

Hi all:

I have just purchased a 1999 Acura 3.5 TL. It has 159000 kms. I know that the timing belt and water pump should be replaced soon. Does anybody have any idea the recommended mileage to do the replacement and the approximate cost involved? Also would there be any other "problems" that I should be looking for ?

Its recomended to do around 100k or 7 years. And at the dealer it should be around 800, independant shops less

WOW ... the car has 159,000km? In Canada, we're supposed to change the timing belt/water pump every 100,000km (severe climate service). Goes to show you how we get ripped off Up North.

Meanwhile ... I'll probably wait until 120,000km to get mine changed.

Never mind. It has to be...who would change the water pump w/o changing the belt. But, that's amazing belt and pump last that long.

You are crazy man. Please change your timing belt before your engine is shredded. almost 200k is like playing russian roulette with your car. My mechanic will be changing mine along with water pump in about a week for 492.00(labor and parts).

LOL. Batman Power huh? well in that case I'm sure your car has the special edition batman belt and not the acura timing belt so 200k is nothing.
