timing belt change question

timing belt change question
Hi All, I got a 2003 Acura TL Type S @ 75000 miles and I drive about 10000 highway miles per year. I'll be changing my vehicle next June. I was told that I need to change the timing belt since the vehicle is 10 years old (eventhough, the belt hasn't reach the mileage due). Question is, do I really need to change the timing belt? I'm hoping that I can hold on until next year when I purchase another vehicle

Hey Bqlee, The choice is ultimately yours to make. Many will state that the time is as critical as the mileage.....and normally I'd agree with the manufacturer's recommendations.
However, in your case....if you're absolutely sure that you'll be only keeping the car for another year and accumulating about 10k more in miles, that may be a valid point to put off having the expensive T-belt service performed at the present time.
But on the flip side, depending upon if you should happen to change your mind and keep it or......if you want top money out of the car, some people will inquire about the tranny and if the T-belt service was done. Chances are that you'll be ok, but it's your choice !!!!
