Tein H.techs + axles = problem

Approx. 5 months ago I had a problem with my axles, primarily my driver's side causing heavy vibrations under load between 50-60 mph. It wasn't there before or after that speed UNDER LOAD or decelerating at any speed. I replaced the axle and it seemed to be fine (the passenger side does vibrate but it isn't that bad)....

Fast forward to now and the driver axle is starting to show signs of the same thing happening.

My friend who's running Tein S.techs in his MR-S has blown through TWO axles in a shorter time than I have.

Are Teins just not that good?

I've ran primarily H&R in two of my other cars and NEVER had an axle related problem.

What gives here?

the h techs produce a very mild drop and aren't that firm. wouldn't see why your front end should wear out any faster than it would with stock springs. how many miles do you have?

they shouldnt be the cause of your problem. They are a very mild drop.

Either way, i don't think the brand of the spring would be the issue here...it's the axle weakness.
I'm on Tein SS and I was tucking tire and had a horrible 2nd gear vibration/wiggle that turned out to be the axle. Raised the car up to 1 finger gap and it's gone.

Maybe some TL axles just don't like being lowered that much but on H techs, I don't think that's the issue.

I've got close to 98k on it. Bought it w/ the springs on it, apparently he was a user on here. Forgot his old username though... Anyway, I can't think of anything else that could cause the axle to go prematurely. It was a brand new part from Autozone. It was the one where a core was not required. If it was defective it should've shown signs of bad craftsmanship from the get go, right guys?

thats your problem, probably a defective part. i get tons of broken autozone parts as cores at work (O'Reilly Auto Parts)

not sure about their warranty on parts like that, but try to return it or warranty it out with them

Make sure when you return the axles to not bring the car (if you put new axles on it and drove it there) or put it in plain sight or else they may not honor your warranty.

like everyone else said it's probably not the springs.

So there's no possibility that the springs are causing them to wear out this fast?

Did u replace your shocks when u replaced your springs?
The stock shocks might not be handling the extra load of the aftermarket springs and causing more strain on the axels!

StonedCL, I got the car used and it was already lowered. They're OE struts and I've seen on Tein's website that the springs can be used w/o compromise on OE struts.....what's the OE spring rate?

There is no way that your car is low enough to bind the axles. I am tucking my tires like crazy. I think it is probably something else besides the axles or if it is the axles from a parts store. Dont buy the brand new buy the remanufactured ones. They use the factory Honda/acura end cups. Put the remanufactured side by side with the brand new one and compress the Cups down and then measure. The Brand new ones are about 1/2 inch shorter causing the cup to pull out when slammed or going over big bumps. Keep me updated!

UNDEFINED, I'll have to look into that. Since I purchased new ones Autozone might only replace with another new axle instead of a remanufactured one. Plus IIRC to get the lifetime warranty I had to get the new ones, but like I said, I'll have to call them up...

Just curious, what are you lowered with and how much are you lowered from factory?

^^ Same with my setup.

I had H-Techs at first, and I never had problems like that. Then I had Tein SS, still nothing like that. Now Im on K-Sport.

I have a 3G as stated above and I'm beginning to think they axle may be bad too. I have a hookup at the dealership and only paid $140 for an OEM one for the driver side. Maybe I need to man up and change out the passenger side one too.

Hmm...
