Tail Light Tint
Ok, I'm about to finally tint my TL, but i want to also tint my taillights. Is it easy enough to do it myself? How does everyone do it here? Where did you buy your tint for them? I saw some custom cut tinting on eBay, but wasn't sure if it will be good enough. thanks

Trust me, buy the cut out vinyl strip that you seen on e-bay that way you can take it off if you want to in the future. If you paint them its there for good because if you try taking the paint off with any kind of solvent it will screw the plastic up. I had mine vinyled myself and they looked really good, why I tried painting them 2 years later I dunno, but now I had to pay $200 for new ones because I screwed them up. But get the dark vinyl strips, they're cheap and they are glossier than any paint that you can apply.

How easy was it to put the vinyl from eBay on? is it like a decal or sticker?

first of all, if u paint them with the right paint, which is vht night shade, it is reversible. use paint thinner on a rag and start wiping the tail light. keep doing untill it is clean, i helped my friend do this on my car.
2nd, the tail light vinyl tint looks good from far away, but up close you see some minor imperfections like waves, ive seen them on a couple tl's at the meets.

Is there anywhere you can buy this stuff other than online?
How many coats did you spray on? did you spray a clear coat after you were done, or was it not necessary?

i got mine at a performance shop. i sprayed about 4-6 coat (and the last were not thin), never clear coated them just buff it and wax it, and it give u a glossy look, yes over time it will get dull.
a friend clear coated his and thats what im going to do to mine next year when i redo my tail lights.

open the trunk, take out the 4 clips on the plastic trunk edge, unscrew the 4 "bolt screws" (2 on each side), and then peal back the carpet, it should be a 10mm or an 8mm bolt and eight of them hold them on i think
