Having almost 200,000 miles now on my 02 Tl-S and just waiting for the tranny to go again. I have been pondering on maybe just doing a whole new engine swap. I've tried to do some research but so far have come up empty handed. Has anyone successfully done newer generation engine swaps into a 2nd gen either from newer tl's or accord's? And would a jdm swap be worth it? Jdm swaps are about the only thing I can find that have low miles anyways lol.

 

I believe there are couple of Engines that will Drop in.. The main Concern is that they Dont Use DRIVE-BY-WIRE.

I think the J35A3 (ACURA MDX, SATURN VUE) can drop in with no mods.
JDM Engines have lower HP/TQ ratings than the USDM engines, No real Reason to use a JDM Engine rather than say you have 1.



IMO I would do a complete Rebuild with your J32A2 Head + J35 Block + RL Internals.. You will get better power and keep the 7K Redline
The J35A3 Stock has a lower Redline but your Limiter wont hit until 7K using the J32A2 ECU.

 

I would get an 01-02 Acura mdx motor and install your cams from your engine now or get 07 tl-s cams
