springs/shocks

I already have 19s on the tl. I dont want to spend all the money it would cost to get coilovers so Im deciding to buy springs and shocks. I wanna lower the car 1.5 inch maybe a lil more if possible. I understand I need shocks as well. What is the best brand? Tien s tech i hear is nice. looking to spend no more than 300. pushing it is 400.

Tein s techs are over 2" drop. I would go with h&r sport springs(1.75"f &1.5"r) with tokico blues.

3-400 With shocks? Not going to happen if you want the best brand. Best brand of spring is H&R. Best brand of shock is Koni or Bilstien.

Never thought it would be that much might as well save an extra couple hundred.. but will the actual ride of the car be more stiff? I dont want to start rubbing. I just fixed that problem

It is worth the extra couple hundred to get a better shock. I was going to get koni yellows but got to good of a deal to pass up on my kyb agxs and they are actually easier to adjust than any of the others in the rear. I would think you would have less of a chance of rubbing with a stiffer shock because it will have less room to travel because it is stiffer.

With adjustable shocks you can tailor the ride firmer or softer.

Also, why are you worried you would you start rubbing? Because you are lowered or some other reason?

Totally agree, for obvious reasons...

Yep - my H&R Sport Springs were $240 and my Tokicos were $315. Installation was another $150. So worth it though - the ride is better than stock - firm, controlled, but not harsh.

If you get the h&r. Make sure you get the ones that have the part number 50103, NOT 51855. The 51855 were made for the accord and when put in the tl they sag to much. H&R revised them and came out with 50103

I got mine off eBay for like 200 shipped. As long as it comes in a H&R box and the part number is right I would go for it to save a little.

Ebay does sell Original Parts just look out for the RIGHT Seller! Everything from a Shaddy Seller in Hong Kong is a NO GO!

Me myself has H&R Springs with Tokico Iluminas could not be happier! Only Adjusting Rear Dampening its a PITA.....
Try KYB AGX like Stephen has, They have Externally Adjustable Dampening (In the Shock Itself not in Shaft like my Iluminas) so they are Easy to Tailor.

I myself could not be happier either my car has little to no lean in corners now. I wanted the koni yellow shocks but found the kyb agx shocks for a price you could not beat. Adjusting them is really simple to just use a screw driver up front and lay on the ground behind the rear wheel and twist it or you could reach throuh the wheel but it's hard to see the numbers. I actually bought my springs and shocks off of eBay, I don't mind using them because your protected by paypal and your credit card company.

Rubbing has more to do with rim size and offset. Do you rub at all now with weight in the back when you hit dips and bumps in the road? If so you will rub lowered. If not you will be fine.

I think he has 20's with to tall of a profile tire so it probably will be a problem once he lowers his car.

I didn't want to make a new post but is it a bad idea to cut the original own springs on the car to drop it temporarily? You to see how I like it low?

better solution: fill the trunk and engine compartment with cinder blocks.

I would never do that, especially with how many images there are out there on the Internet of people lowering there cars. I would just goto google images type in Acura tl and then the spring you want and it will give you plenty of images.

You can put TEIN springs on stock shocks, if the stock shocks are in good condition.
