Spec's New Line of Clutches...

Ran across this while I was browsing the web... Can someone elaborate on this? Looks like they make an alternate fix to the "glorified" oem clutches they used to make. They're listed under the "-2" clutch sets. For the '07 TL and up. These are for the '07-'08 TL/TL-S but I have a good feeling they'd work for everyone that have the 6MT swaps...

Going to call up Spec tomorrow and find out if these are for real.

These kits are a complete redesign of the restrictive and weak factory SAC pressure plate assemblies and feature our billet pressure plate option standard. Our aluminum flywheel will accommodate a factory style clutch or any of our 7 billet clutch stages.
Apparently, they have flywheel/friction/pressure plate combos that range from a torque capacity of 410 to as high as 710 and being cheaper than Clutch Masters by at least $200+ depending on what you're looking for.

They don't have a flywheel for the TL. I ordered a Stage 3 with flywheel and everything included, but it wouldn't fit right. They ended up giving me a Stage 2+ and checked my stock flywheel to make sure it would mate properly. All is well now, and I'll hit 1k miles on the setup tomorrow.

Wait a minute, when you say that the flywheel doesn't fit right, what exactly do you mean by that? Was the bolt patter different?... the amount of teeth on the flywheel? what exactly? I was looking into getting this myself for my setup, but figured I'd ask around first to see if anyone else has got this yet.

GOOD NEWS!!!

Apparently, they're making revised versions of the clutch disc options they have for the '03 CL-S and EX V6 6MT's with a completely different design than the ones they currently provide. (I spoke with the tech Jeremy-- very knowledgable person) Within 6-8 weeks, they'll have pressure/frictionplate + flywheel combinations that'll be able to hold as much power as the ones they offer currently for the '07+ models.

NWSTL, the reason why the flywheel didn't work for you is that the stack height and pressure plate's bolt pattern of the flywheel itself's different for the '07 compared to the older models including the CL.

Ahh, I see. Yeah Jeremy is a great guy. I saw him Sunday at a car show. Super nice and yes, very knowledgeable.

Wait, a little confused. They're building a new kit for 04-06 because the 07-08 doesn't work, or the other way around? Mine is an '05.

Alright, here's the deal. The kits they make for the '07-'08's that are wayyy better and hold a hell of alot more power, they're making similar kits for the '03 CL-S as well as the '04-'07 TLs. Basically, they're making these kits with the correct flywheels for each application. I'm going to be testing one for myself... if it holds up and works wonders as promised, I won't be surprised to see way more Boosted J32/35/37 - 6MT swaps

I guess they decided to start work on this right after I got mine. They thought for sure the Stage 3 would work. Oh well!

I read from the cl side that the one made for the 03 cl 6 m/t used the stock pressure plate, but they just had it painted to try to make it look different. So if they are making a new pp that would be better, not sure if id take it over cm tho.

Just wanted to update the thread by saying I'm about to hit 40k miles on the SPEC clutch. Haven't had a single issue. Apparently I drive about 20k miles a year.
