Single exhaust?

Is it possible to change the 2g tl from a dual exhaust to a single? Has it ever been done to a cl/tl? pictures would be great as well as some insight or what kit to use. THANKS!

You won't find a kit that bolts up, it would have to be all custom made. Someone on the CL side did it, but you won't gain anything. Why do you want single exhaust?

There's a couple of people that have done full custom single outlet exhausts.

i think it'll look funky with the way our back side looks.. its like.. low and wide and a single outlet would kinda make it unbalanced. my opinions.. your car, do what u want

Depending on your state- there can be Smog Inspection issues regarding changes to the exhaust.

Single exhaust =

I don't see how going to a single exhaust would affect the emissions.

You will lose tons of lower end torque but gain hp around 5k. Good if your hardcore racer and go from high-rpm freeway rolls or 1st gear rolls.

edit: may get an occasional backfire depending if you have a hi-flow cat aswell

This is my first car with duel exhaust and I love it. Unless you had someone do so R&D on a single that made significant power througout the powerband it is pointless to do so. And IMO it would look silly/ricerish.

In Japan the TL's did come with a single exhaust. I believe the Type- S option was only dual...not sure. But heres the link https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170052

just plug one side of the exhaust up, the rest will flow out the other end because of the Y-pipe

They had different engine options. The smaller of the may have had single. All the 3.2s had dual

I didn't think they were offered with a 4 banger, I thought it was either a 2.5L V6 or a 3.2L V6?

I've seen it done on a CL with a custom bumper with a cut-out for one exhaust. There is a TL in my area with a single exhaust, and it looks stupid. IMO, stay with the dual or get the custom work done.

i guess this is one of those 'to each their own' sort of things. but personally, i think the dual exhaust makes our cars look way better than just a single one. thats just my take on this one though
