Shocks/Struts, what to get?

Hey guys,
I was wondering what shock/struts or coilover I should get to lower the car? DigiBox has offer a few suggestions. I just like more feedback. I was looking at the Tein Basic Coilover, but he said the ride may be too bouncy. He suggested I look for K-Sport because it has adjustable dampening. Here's what I want:

- a nice drop (I am not looking at slamming it. Thinking about 1.5"? I will be putting a WW kit on later)
- dont like that bouncy feeling ( I drive my parents out to eat sometime, so I dont want them to say anything)

I know a lot of people here use Tein, how do you like them? How about other brands of coilover? Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Spend the extra 250 and get the Tein SS which have a min. drop of 1.5 inches and you can easily adjust the dampening/rebound rate with the turn of a screw on the top of the shock

Wife approved ride will also pass parental inspections

It all depends what you want. If you want a drop and aren't worried about ride height adjustment you could get shocks and springs for not nearly as much as coilovers. If ride height adjustment is important to you I would recommend the K-Sport, Tein-SS, or the Apexi WS which are discontinued.

I know with extra money, anything can happen. Trying to keep it within budget is hard . I would love to get those Tien SS. To me, I think I need coilover because of the height adjustments.

i THINK i got tein basics, bought car used so dunno for sure, but it's stiff as heck. no bounce at all.
weird thing is, because the coilovers were designed with the springs on top, i dunno how they usually go, for my car, when i lower it, i'm actually expanding out the spring and giving it space to bounce. which is weird because my car is slammed and is smoother vs raised and rides like a rock

TEIN Basics are not bouncy. They are firmer than stock but not stiff. They give a sportier ride. K Sports are firm; they are track inspired. The TEIN Basics only offer ride height adjustment. The valving/damping is preset from the factory in accord with the spring rates.

When you adjust the height of the perch the spring sits on at the bottem- you adjust how high the car sits in relation to the shocks
Its not about compressing the spring- its always compressed

Hey Josh/excelerate--- I put those Kaixen 6000k headlights in , and drove home noticing how well it lights up reflector paint and decals/signs on the road and trucks and crosswalks in the neighborhood.

Then realized I had just driven 30 minutes without my glasses- at night!!!
and I dont get a block without knowing I am not wearing them

These are some killer low beams thanks man

While the basics are fine for single young guys who dont mide a firm ride in the car, they will not pass parental approval as the OP needs

When you are looking at 700+ for basics, its not that much further to 900-1000 for the killer setup that you will always appreciate
Give up a vice and save the cash for better parts

My parents dont go on my car that much, maybe 2-3 times a month. We go out to eat when my sister is home on the weekend. I dont need them yapping about how much I spend on the car and now it's all bouncy! I'm looking @ buying the part used from the Black Market. If not the Basic, other options in addition to K-Sport?

EDIT: Btw, the reason why I dont want to splurge on spending is because I'm saving up for a house or whatever I can afford in the San Jose. The housing market suck!

with ever dropping house prices and auctions- even for new homes, spend a few hundred making your life better for everyday, and you will still get the house you want!

Heck- have the Teins thrown in as a sellers bonus- some places are including entire cars in the sale just to move a house!!- wont you look good with a bwm in your garage~

Which city has a car included? I need to move there. The other reason, I cant buy new is because I need to take it to a shop and things add up when you take them to a shop...
