Sequential Sport Shift Info.

Can someone please give me a definitive overview of the purpose of the Sequential Sport Shift function? I understand that some like the feel of shifting gears. Other than that though, is there any other advantage (or disadvantage)? What are the pros and cons of using it? Do you lower your mpg when using it? I was told that it does lower your mpg, but I'm not sure if I can trust the source that told me. Any info would be appreciated.

Its only good purpose is for aggressive driving so that you can hold the gear you want instead of the car shifting for you. I also like using it in the winter to get it to shift sooner so its harder to get wheel spin. Oh and i like to use it to pass cars, i can anticipate teh pass and have it in the correct gear before hand.

As far as wasting moe gas, Having SS mode itself doesnt. How you use it can

Staying in VTEC

I use it to stay in the VTEC rpm range. It is a blast! You can fly around in the car's sweet spot. It is fast and aggressive. Sort of live an xbox game.

wont have any problems using it. Honda designed it to be used, not to be afraid of using it. The computer wont let you do something that will harm the car

I think I drove my first 1000 miles or so without using SS. After reading a few threads here about how to use it, etc. I started using SS and haven't gone back. It's kinda hard to drive without using it now because I end up throwing it into neutral if I leave it in D5. I do that with my wife's car too from time to time.

you can conserve gas when you are cruising on a flat road or down hill at 60-65 KM/H in 5th gear SS MODE.

In auto d5 mode.... the car will only shift in to 5th gear when you reach +80 KM/H.

Also.... when going downhill at city speeds... the car usually trys to stay in 3rd gear for little engine breaking and safety... but you can overide it in SS mode and put it into 4th or 5th gear to lower the RPM and conserve some gas.

It gives you a little more flexibility. So yes, you can put it in 5th on a flat/down hill, when it would probably stay in 4th if left in auto. Theorhetically, you'd conserve gas. Don't know how much.
Best way is to play with it and see for yourself. Like fsttyms1 said, the computer won't let you harm it.

YEs Sir..... This is the best feature of this...... I never owned an automatic car besides this 1.... And my Mountaineer, but thats an exception....

I feel that as soon as i pop it in SS mode, the gas goessss FAST.... cuz u hold it in a higher RPM in majority of the gears....

my friend threw is truck in reverse going 40 trying to move the shifter into neutral.

he broke reverse so he had to plan how to get out of parking spots and stuff.

he did that twice. the other time it just locked up the rear wheels

if you like driving on canyon roads then ss is really helpful to keep up with rear wheel driving cars like 240s n wat not
other then that i dont use ss on local streets, it seems theres no point cause wen I shift it takes 1.5 sec to actually feel the shift which makes it feel laggy.

but beware of ROCKS on roads.. i ran over a big ass rock broke it into million pieces.. CRACKED my front rim .. my first flat )=`, I was behind my friends 240 saw the rock last sec couldnt do anything rolling on blk VSR in front alloy racing harts on back haha how ghetto huh? should i leave it like that
