rust on rotors

I just installed Brembo rotors last week and noticed today there is lots of rust on the top part and middle basically where the pad does not touch is rust.
I was wondering if this is normal?
Will painting that part prevent the rust?

thanks

If you mean the rotor surface face shows uneven caliper pressure- that is a problem

If you mean on the center hub and the outside edge where the center vents end-the round outside diameter, everywhere its not an active part of the rotor, then yes
you can paint that part with duplicolor caliper paint or hi temp bbq paint
Clean rust first! Many colors available- that why you see cars here with red or black or blue calipers and some paint the center of the rotor too- some even color match the car!!

Thats one reason certain rotor makers are using a special coating on the hubs and interior

Everyone else- spray some bbq paint into a disposable cup and use a small foam brush to apply to surfaces- Instant brake Upgrade! Paint the calipers black and you have
~the brembo look~ all around

maybe some of us like tinkering with asthetics of our beloved TL
So what if I polished the brake lines under the hood ~
And slowly clay bar and polish every painted surface including the door sills-
I DO NOT HAVE A CONDITION!!!! I'm just bored

If the rust look bothers one- you can do a home fix or my well know recommendation of RacingBrake rotors with the special black coating- see www.heeltoeauto.com or racingbrake.com for details

I got the Brembo OE rotors as well and mine did the same exact thing. I masked off the surface area and got bbq stove black paint (high temp) and painted them...looks great and after 6 months, no rust yet!!!

My next rotors will have some sort of ecoat or something...with my nice chrome wheels that show a ton of rotor area, that rust just makes the package look horrible..not anymore!
