^^ hes not talking about the resonator.. he's talking about taking out everything, mufflers and all and just putting striaght pipes all the way down from the headers till the end.

I can tell you you would get pulled over in no time for too loud of a car, AND you would be driven nuts inside the car from the resonance. I have done it (and still can) and its loud. (though with my new exhaust setup the sound has really changed)

What gives it that loud sound is also the headers. I want to do the same thing to mines(cut out the small muffler) but my thing is the sound. I don't want a loud ricey exhaust note. I want a nice low tone similar to the Lexus Sc400 or the G35.

ye thats exacly what i want, like low and low RPM and lound as F K after 3k RPM.
i tought maybe H pipes would help me do that with new XS headers.
any toughts?

so some of you said u took off both but by the pics i see you have only took off one. is it the large one or small one. is this is a permanent upgrade? can someone post DIYs on this. if there isnt any, can someone post some more pics and i can make DIY for it. Should i remove one or two? Im scared it might sound too loud, like a riced out civic with the folders can muffler and sound like an annoying bumble bee. Is this the case?

its not a permanent upgrade.. if you just keep the old resonator, the shop can always put it back the same way they took it off.. simple. and no it doesn't sound anything like a annoying bumble bee or civic. its a very subtle rumble thats really not that noticeable.

just updating this thread with my

When I first got this done (removing mid muffler only) the sound was slightly noticeable. Now after about a month and a half, it is pretty damn loud and getting some drone around 2200 RPM or so and i get the drone right before each shift point. If I get on it in sport shift mode and shift at higher RPMS, I don't get it as much.

I road trip alot and unfortunately, the drone hits between 75 and 80mph...i can turn up the stereo but it's there...i am shocked that most people don't hear the difference that much. My wife noticed it right away and even more the other night. She can also hear me coming down the street a few houses away as i downshift into 2nd. So, either my stock mufflers are not as good as before I got this done, or there is more exhaust coming from the engine..not sure, but it is louder now than 45 days ago. Plus, maybe I am getting old and hate the sound...haha...the sound is nice and deep though. I don't think muffler silencer tips will help either. They have some universal inserts that would fit, but I can't see how those would help since my oem outlet is not 3.5", just the tips are

I just got my mid muffler taken off today and it sounds good...just the way I wanted it. I can hear it up to about 2800 RPM or so and it kinda goes away and on the freeway going about 80 MPH I can hear some drone. But over all its well worth the $30.

Where did you guys go to get this done for under $30? Lowest price quote I've gotten was $60...and that's after talking them down.

I just got this done for $40....but I'm getting a CEL. I knew I shouldn't have done it.....

I'll read the code & post back what it is.

One thing I did notice was that when he cut the muffler off, the piping suddenly dropped (the one with the cat) and had to be held up...as in the muffler was the only thing holding the exhaust up after the engine. Was that normal?

....that doesnt seem normal....when i seen them do mine they put sumthing underneath both ends so it didnt drop down like that...maybe something got pulled and isnt connected right...

i guess each car has a slight personality...

i removed both today, and it changed absolutely nothing. it sounds bone stock

yea it was only 45 bucks, but all i gained from that experience is a new shiny pipe in place of the dirty resonators and some knowledge.

i think the only way to see any type of immediate notice of change is to pay for better mufflers or go with bigger piping from the front... this was a waste of 2 tanks of premium gas to burn.

You still would get pulled over for it, and you would go nuts from how loud it is.

It would be kinda like this (which doesnt really show how loud it really is (and annoying it is inside the car)

20 bucks says its a o2 sensor it probably got ripped out when the exhaust fell but yea dont say you knew you shouldnt have done it i have done it personally so have alot of other guys on AZ you just went to a shop that had some asshole that has no idea what he was doin. there is no possible way to throw a code with just deleating resonators.
