in all honesty you "wont" feel any power gains from removing anything
the exhaust system is already freeflowing and eliminating the resonator wont help any power wise
well i mean i felt like it was faster, but i also feel the same way after i wash my car LOL
but it will change the sound a bit
the muffler we removed is the exhaust resonator which is made to quiet the noise by having the sound waves bounce around inside of it and get absorbed into the walls. if you want your car to sound a bit louder and a hair deeper, then this is an inexpensive way to do it

there are 2 resonators. one looks like a muffler and the other is i guess similar to a universal cat but (it is not a cat). remove both resonators. just removing one doesnt do much. and removing both does a small amount not loud at all.

if you remove the Cat it will be loud and you will loose power down south in the RPM's but gain some high up. and unless you add the right resistor or add a RT cat you will throw a code.

so in the original post of this thread they only removed the small muffler correct
not the front resonator

he did that then i think he went back and got the other one done.
i have both removed and it sounds great. doesnt drone or anything funky. at low RPM's its deep low tone but when you get higher up the sound kinda dissapers. overpowered by the intake. if you are going to do anything get both done.

They are BOTH Resonators. The smaller one was added to just help with quieting down a little more. It does very little. If your going to remove them either remove the Large one or both.

Yes and please search. this subject is talked about on a weekly basis. Comptechs are the only true one that hasnt had any problems. All other ones are hit and miss. It looks like the XS are the next best, but they are a relatively new header and we dont know what they will do long term.

ya the intake kinda over powers the exhaust. but that gives the guys that think that the exhaust is going to be too loud an idea that it is still quite. i have some from outside the car but the wind was blowing so i could not get a good clip. sorry.

Apple juice can...

You guys mean the catalytic converter.......right? It has ridges along the outside..... and looks like a honeycomb weave on the inside kind of.

GTA - as in Greater Toronto Area? What shop did you go to get it done? Wouldn't mind hearing it live and in person. Any other GTA Tl'ers interested?

Just did this today. Paid 40 for it. Didn't really make much of a change, I can definitely hear it, but I can see why its hard to get a sound clip. Was it worth 40 bucks?
No probably not, but when I install my headers, which should be here next week some time, maybe it will make it sound meaner.

WHY YOU FEEL IT NOT WORTH 40$ IS IT NOT WHAT YOU EXPECTED SOUNDS LIKE CRAP OR TO LOUD (NOT WORTH DOING)

I got mine removed today, the car got alot louder than I had expected (I have Tsudo aftermaket mufflers). Even though its a lil too loud I like it, well worth the 40bux.

I say its not worth it because its really not that noticeable. It could be my intake overpowering it. But once I start to hear it the intake just makes it sound likes its not there. At low speeds or rpms I should say you can hear a little deep growel like the car wants to eat somebody, but you really have to listen for it. If you have your music loud you won't hear it.

I'm hoping that with the headers it will be more noticeable, but I wouldn't be able to compare it to stock cuase I don't have the headers and the mufflers is no longer in my possesion.

Don't let this discourage you from doing it. But I would have rather spent my 40 bucks on on a one legged stripper, just cause that would be fun to watch.
