If you cant do it yourself it is probably going to run you 8-10k. Parts alone are 3-6k

Plus, I think that if you do it yourself, you gain all that much more experience about your car. Its a rewarding experience, I believe. If you do go through with this swap, take notes on what parts you needed to purchase for the swap. I might go through with this in the next year or so. I need to save up the $$.

Keep in mind the TL-P to TL-S 6MT swap requires more parts (as far as I know). And I do believe not many have done a straight 6MT swap on a TL-S on the forums.. but I could be wrong.

I like pizza.

Just thought I'd post something else that has nothing to do with swapping in a 6MT.

guys... stick to the topic.. help him out

Sprmar, where are you located? furthermore, usually, it all depends on two things.. how much the transmission costs and if you're going to do a full CL-S swap or wait for joe's harness (in progress) that'll let you keep your auto components to work with the manual transmission

what does that have to do with the swap. no one asked how fast it would be.

the swap is relatively easy considering you have all the parts and necessary tools and tooling.

it can be done in a weekend if you are mechanically inclined. I swapped out the motor 3 times in two days due to a bad motor. so I know it can be done..

im sure fsttyms1 can attest to that.

also it can be cheaper if you buy the parts at a salvage yard. I did my whole swap for roughly 3500

it helps if the parts are all there and ready to go. I'm sure Mike can attest to being without his TL for months and how much it sucks.

I agree with that too. We could've done the swap in 2-3 days but had to wait on extra parts. Still, my TL was only under knife for 6 days.

having the parts is a must. like frank said I was without my car for five months because I couldn't afford all the parts and my tranny had went out.

I did a lot of searching, bargaining, hustleing(spellcheck) and driving to get what I needed. in the end I think I am more satisfied with the fact that I did it all on my own......... and that the car puts fear into the hearts of women, children and even some men...... just kidding.

And what does this have to do with this thread? And why the "Supposed Specs"??? The 04 has been out for 4 years now. there are ACTUAL SPECS for the car.

WELL if it has nothing to do with a 6MT swap then it wouldnt be 6MT specs now would it? and if people are asking about gains in HP and performance why not look at specs and compare?

Well for starters instead of just posting random #s try saying WHY you did.
2nd you should be quoting #s of the CL where the trans and for some the motor have come from. Not the 3rd gen TL.
