Pipe for home made intake ?

I have an 01 Cls and want to fabricate my own intake. I currently have the resonator removed and K&N drop in that works well but want more air flow.

Can anyone advise where I can get plastic piping that can handle high temp automotive use? Anything made of steel or aluminum is going to get hot and defeat the purpose..

I see that local yocal auto parts shops like Pep Boys and Advance Auto sell the cheap flexible crap. I want it to look good as well as work.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

flex pipe with ridges causes disruption to the airflow = not good

best thing is open the bottem of the air filter box up more- where the 2 holes are now

the removed resonator box method allows mass quantities of air to be stored in the inner fenderwell- available on demand

a 4 inch tube provides far less air on demand than available thru the setup you have now
Also any air run thru the engine compartment will have heat rise, thats bad for inlet air

The cheap method is the best --until you go with the 300 dollar method,
but for budget stay where you are... just improve it

If your nose has the fake fog light cutouts: on the driver side, use a dremel to remove the low parts between the raised slats- allows direct outside airflow into the storage area, and leaving it intact will serve as a screen will keep small animals out! guess how I learned this~
optional - cut out the entire fake fog light and glue in some house gutter screen cover (from rear side) -allows more airflow while keeping critters out
