P2R TB Spacer ?

I have a few questions about the P2R TB spacer for the Type S. P2R claims a 4hp increase with the spacer alone.. but how come other spacers such as the Helix Power Tower claims a 22hp increase? What's the difference between these two because I know they don't make the Helix Power Towers for our TL's. i heard the best two were P2R and Outlaw.. I'm just looking for one that has best performance gains..

If I do plan on getting the P2R tb spacer, should I get the gaskets too?

give me 80 bucks ill slap u, and u'll feel better that u saved the 35 dollars on gaskets. Now if u want a noticeable difference for free re-route the coolant away from the tb, really helps in the summer wastes more time warming up in the cooler temps, I think wasting more gas as it runs richer to warm its self

Ignore him, most of his information is useless.

I doubt any TB spacer can give you gains of 22HP, go with the P2R TB Spacer and get one P2R Thermal gasket and use the oem gasket or run 2 P2R Thermal gaskets. Work around your budget, if you dont have one then it wont hurt to run 2 P2R gaskets. If moneys tight, just run one...it does the job.

might be a dumb question but when you say run 2 p2r thermal gaskets do you mean like actually get 2 gaskets and stack them on top of each other so they are thicker ??

You need to put 1 gasket on either side of the Throttle Body Spacer. You can run 1 OEM gasket and 1 P2R gasket(one on either side) or have 2 P2R gaskets(one on either side of the TB Spacer).

FlacoJ, no offense but I do have to admit that was a really unhelpful response. Rajco, thanks for clearing things up and providing photos along with it bro, you are the man! I do have questions about the CEL coming on. Will it come on after installing the TB spacer/gaskets and intake manifold gaskets?

btw, if I do get it, I'm gonna go all out.. I'll buy the intake manifold gasket, both of the tb gaskets, and the tb spacer itself.

CEL shouldn't come on with the spacer or gaskets.

I don't think 2 TB gaskets are necessary. 1 does the job of keeping TB heat from the IM. A second gaskets basically adds 1/4" to the spacer.

I would just get a spacer, IM gasket, TB gasket, and an OEM TB gasket.

Not really sure. I don't think P2R has numbers for the gaskets.

Should be noticeable though. Maybe rajca or someone can confirm.

I believe that the tb spacer comes with two gaskets. Well, atleast mine did when I bought it as a group buy. Power wise, id say around 5hp. Its more for keeping the im and tb cooler. Cooler air means more power.

Hm.. do i necessarily need to do the intake manifold gasket? Or can I still achieve the 4hp gain with just the spacer the 2 tb gaskets? =/

The thermo gasket on the intake manifold to runners greatly reduced heat transfer. Before I couldn't keep my hand on the im bc it got that hot, now I can keep it on their all day if I wanted too. And since I added and 1 3/4" spacer under the intake manifold, its a lot cooler, almost feels cold when u touch the manifold. Id highly recomend the thermo spacer and the tb spacer along with doing the coolant bypass mod on the tb

A lot of heat comes from the block to the IM. The IM gasket would give you some good gains.

The greatest gain from the thermal gaskets comes from prevention of heat soak. Although the gaskets may not help you make lots of hp, they help you to keep the hp run after run due to reduced intake air temps.

There are 3 openings for coolant to come out of, 1st loop the first opening to the second hole with one hose, 2nd, take the third opening and route it directly to the tranny, while doing this eliminate the hoses that run to your tb's. I tried to reroute the 1st opening to no avail like the tsx coolant bypass showed, that’s my memory diy for 02 Tl-S coolant Bypass. Common sense should get you through the rest...
