Heres a question, I know when its about 69 degrees or lower my car runs/reacts better than it being 85 + degrees outside. I know that colder air is more combustable than hot air but heres my question, where are the outside temp. sensors located at? The reason is do you think if you mount those sensors in a place where they would be colder tricking the ECU that its colder outside, do you think the car would run better?

 

the purpose of those sensors is to prevent premature detonation of the fuel--the timing is already optimized to give you the most power/efficiency possible at the given temp with the given fuel, so if you mess with that, best case you lose some power, worst case you mess up your engine.

i don't think the sensor that gives you the temp readout affects that in any way, though it's somewhere in the front bumper.

 

The car doesnt measure outside air to monitor and adjust ecu parameters. The only sensor that monitors any thing like that is the ECU (baro sensor).

 

Correct. The outside air temp sensor is located near the bottom of the car, and is only used solely to show the driver the current air temp near the road surfaces.

There is this intake air temp sensor, located in the intake manifold, that is used to measure the actual intake air temp for engine management processing.
