OEM Intake Manifold Spacer from Odyssey?

Based on a similar thread in the 3G section where they found an OEM IM spacer from a newer Odyssey that may fit the TL, I decided to look up a diagram of an '02 Odyssey IM:

Spacer is part # 8, plus perhaps two gaskets (#5) and some longer bolts. Do you guys think this would fit the TL-P? Or TL-S? It does look a bit tall, but I know that when Kris did the 6MT swap, he said the new engine was much higher than the old one and his hood still closed.

I have the spacer that would fit the 2G TL/CL. If anyone is interested I can sell it to you for $30 shipped and that includes a 2nd OEM gasket since you need to reuse your original and also add a second one. I thought about doing this mod, but hood clearance if tight. You can do one of 2 things, or the combination of both:
1) Mill down the spacer itself, roughly it is 1.6" thick
2) Use Hood Spacers

The reason I never ended up doing it, sold the CL.

Are you sure it would fit a TL-P? Because I thought that other IM spacers are specific for P vs. S. Do you have the longer bolts as well?

I didn't realize you are TL-P. That I'm not sure about... if you can find me a picture of a TL-P gasket or spacer, I could confirm. I do not have the bolts.

Man I can't find any pics anywhere. The closest I got was '99 TL-P, which is different.

I don't think the hood would close with that. And I believe the port holes are bigger so to truly get performance gains, you'd want to port the rest of the intake tract.

I believe someone in the 3G thread said the spacer was about 1.8" tall. Kris, how much higher do you think your current engine is compared to the original?

It's about 1.6" and for a 2G, as I said, I think you could benefit if you milled it down. 1.6 is a bit too extreme, but something that is like .5" or .75" I think would both clear and be beneficial.

The hood Just closes. Im not sure the type-s motors would get the hood to close?? I know the TL-Ps could.

That spacer is huge! I left it on thinking my hood would close on the TL-P...

I barely have some clearance with the spacer off.

BUT

Here's another alternative to do instead of spacers and especially for those TL-P guys. I will be doing this in the next week or so.

09 TL Intake Manifold bolts right up to the J32A2 runners with the purchase of the P2R adapter.

It costs about $300-320 for the Intake manifold with cover new and the adapter is $69.99 from P2R.

It is made out of magnesium...hence the lighter weight. Big upgrade for anyone looking for intake mods and it sits lower. Also This compared to J32A2 Intake manifold with the Power Plenums...this made 3hp more on dyno.

^By a few pounds.

OP, since you are a TL-P and if you are ever considering this.

Here are the part numbers needed for this swap.

Runners:
17050-PGE-A01
17060-PGE-A01

Intake Manifold:
17160-RK2-A00

Intake Manifold cover:
17140-RK1-A01

Your choice of S2k, TL-S/CL-S, 02-03 Odyssey, 03-04 Pilot, even the RDX injectors will work with some modding.

Oh and the Gaskets.

I would recommend finding the runners in the junk yard though. The intake manifolds and runners are identical. Injectors are different. Look for any of these.

02-03 Odyssey
03-04 Pilot
02-03 TL-S/CL-S

Might be tough to find IM parts in a junkyard as most of them won't part them from the engine. I know, I tried.

^Yea.

Last time I just took the whole intake manifold with runners. Got lucky. But then again someone came to get the rest of the motor on the same day.

It only turned out to be $80 cheaper than new for everything.

Basically but it hasn't been flow bench tested yet.

Instead of paying $500 for the power plenums, get the 09 TL SH-AWD/08 V6 Accord Intake Manifold, Runners (If you are a TL-P), and the adapter from Power Rev Racing.

It's lighter and makes 3hp more than the J32A2 Intake manifold with the power plenums based on their dyno.

I also like how it looks but that shouldn't matter.

hmmm you guys got me thinking now, i might just have to look into this 09 TL intake manifold. it seems like a reasonable priced mod that can give some good numbers on a TL-p

99 Odyssey will not work.

You need number 10 & 12 with gaskets.

17050-PGE-A01 BASE, FR. INJECTOR
17060-PGE-A01 BASE, RR. INJECTOR
17055-P8E-A01 GASKET, FR. INJECTOR BASE
17065-P8E-A01 GASKET, RR. INJECTOR BASE

New!

In the 3rd Gen discussion on the spacer, a dyno just showed they got a 0.7 HP increase and like 7.0 ft*lb increase. However, this was done on a modded 3rd Gen so the numbers my vary. I think this mod would be very beneficial especially if you look at a as (HP&TQ Increase)/$

7 lb-tq increase at peak, but there was an increase horsepower and torque in the entire power band if you look at the dyno.

P.S. - still have this spacer for 2G Type S if anyone is interested.
