obx header review 04 02 2015

Well after my Manzo header order failed to go through I bought the OBX Stainless Header off Amazon direct from OBX.

The difference between new and old is amazing !

I followed the OBX header install to a T - Very well thought out document
https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...ll-faq-446187/

I had issues with both front and back headers not sliding over the bolts - I ground out all the holes a little bit with my die grinder which helped. The rear slipped on at this point.

the Front did not - I have a picture below showing that the middle top bolt hole looks a little high. I ground it out a bit more with my die grinder and it finally slipped on

The interesting thing that I have not see posted anywhere is that the openings in the headers are smaller than the stock openings. if you look at the difference photo it is very clear to see. Plus look at the comparison photo with the stock gasket and you can see that the headers are choking off some of the port.

The holes still look a little off but its on.

I didn't take a picture of it but the O2 sensor that is stock is REALLY close to the tranny. Talking like 1/4 or less. So when your trying to screw the O2 sensor into the pipe it will be hitting the tranny with the wires against the transmission. When you try and turn the wires at the same time as the O2 sensor it is real hard to keep up.

My what looks like stock O2 sensor quit and I had to replace it the same night.

Everything else cinched down right nice and tight after the early hickups. No leaks anywhere. A slight whistle sound from the front exahust bank is all I hear.

I notice some good seat of the pants improvement and more power in passing situations. I only have 500 miles on it and it feels pretty good so far.

I added a a generic CAI system the third night after this to improve it even more. I should have the underdrive pulley on next week.

Right now it is faster to 70 than it was before. I like it

I plan on getting a set of these for my 03 TL-S. I will let you know if I had any of the same fitment issues you have had.

Glad you like them so far! That helps me decide on purchasing them or not.

With headers and CAI I got 25mpg on a 300 mile trip to the San fransciso. With cruise at 75mph 4 people in car and some luggage.

My commute is pretty fun now! I have watch my speed now on the city streets

All the production headers have smaller primaries then the heads. If you can hear a whistle then you have an exhaust leak. When I pulled my XS headers after about 3K I could see a couple small places they were leaking, re-installed with copper spray gasket and no more leaks!

whistle is a bad description - maybe a hum. the CAI is FAR louder at idle than the exhaust.

Why are the primaries so much smaller than OEM?
