Motor Mount Group Buy

All Righty race fans,

I know that many of us are sick and tired of frequently busting our motors. As we know these POS were designed for the older 3.0 liter V6 Accord and carried over to the higher HP Accords, CLs and TLs.

Well, there is a solution and Excelerate has put together a group buy package for us of $250.00 for the front and rear set, IF we can get at least 10 people to commit.

At this price, I'M IN. $250 is about $40 more than the OEM ones, and a savings of about $50.00 buying them directly from the vendor.

Please idicate via the poll and your reply if you are in.

Background information:
In the recent motor mount post I learned that the following aftermarket mounts designed by Innovative Mounts will not only hold up to the power most of our cars are putting out. But most importantly, the stress of "spirited driving". These mounts will also reduce wheel hop, which will help your 0-60MPH, 0-60ft times at the track, which in turn will improve your overall 1/4 mile results. It'll all depend on what mods you have, but expect a 10th, possibly 2 10ths.

While there can be a slight increase in engine vibrations being carried through the chassis, steering wheel and pedals, it's should be slight and it's possible most won't even detect it. I've run solid steel motor mounts before, but with all the engine vibrations of a V8, it really didn't matter as the car shock regardless.

Here is a link to the thread with some comments from some of our pioneers (SIRSIG and Accord_V6_400m) in using these mounts. Note that I agree in recommending we use the "street" version. The exceptions would be the serious performance nuts out there and they may want one of the harder mounts.

Hmm, this is tempting...the lifetime warranty is worth the extra $50 by itself, not to mention you are getting a better quality product.

i take it these wont work with the 99tlp, since they have the vacume powered mounts. if they do infact work, i would be in aswell. my rear is completely gone.

I'm not an expert, but I'd bet they have the same bolt pattern.

fsttyms1, can confirm that?

they have the same bolt pattern. They all share the same lower cross beam that the mount bolts too.

Okay, just 2 more people and we got 10.

It a 50-50 race between the CL and TL forums with each at 4 a piece.

If you want to be on the list please add your name. There is a list on the CL side so please make the list here too:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

etc etc Then we can merge them. As I said on the CL forum, Innovative makes a top notch product. I have worked with a few companies and Innovative has been my choice of mounts for local engine swaps for the past couple years. They have minimal vibration with the most control at the best price. Here is some info on how they make the mounts:

http://www.innovativemounts.com/WhyB...ch_process.htm

And then their polyurethane bushings, which is really where they shine:

Not sure, but since I'll be doing mine as soon as I get them I'll let you know.

I do know there are a couple of guys who've done it and said it was hard, but not real bad, so let's see if they pop up. It may have been someone on the CL forum, so I'll poke around over there.

This is very interesting. I've changed my front and side mounts within the last 9 months and it wasn't very difficult. The rear looks like a PITA, but very doable and straight forward. In a nutshell these are very stiff mounts that will reduce "engine rock" significantly over OEM and only increase vibration a tiny bit? If that's correct I'll be damned if I miss out on this.

Its only difficult due to location. A blanket to lay on the engine and some extensions will get the 4 bolts that hold it in place (plus the one top bolt that bolts to the motor mount

Just add your name to the list so we know how many are in. Not counting you we have 13, with the guys from the CL forum, but 4 of them are 6speeds so we're waiting on some more details with regard to the rear mount.

Does this include the racing one? What diff would there be with the racing one would it be better per se. I wouldn't mind the vibration.

I'll have to check with Excelerate on the options, of which there are 3 levels.

1) Street
2) Street/Track
3) Track only

Each grade level gets harder, reducing the engine movement. This reduces parasitic HP loss, but increases vibrations. Unless you're an all out racer, 2 would be the most I'd use.

Here's the response from Excelerate.

"It's $15 extra for the 75A polyurethane for the whole kit. I wouldn't recommend 85A unless it is a track only car.

I'm going to try to get the whole 3 pc kit for around $325 shipped or so but I won't know exactly until I send the mounts in and get a confirmation from Innovative."

I agree with him regarding using the track only version. Also, note that he has a target price of $325 for all 3 mounts. If that becomes the offical price, this will be a hell of a deal.

Okay, if you change your mind remove yourself from the list.

With the CL folks this puts us at 17, so even if a couple back out, we're good to go. But I expect as the word on this continues to get out the numbers will climb.

Don't know anything about a billet version being available, but a side mount is in the works as well. If the price target holds out, I'll just get the 3 piece set. It won't save enough money to mess with the DIY side mount job.

Here's the quote from Excelerate in the CL forum:
I'm going to try to get the whole 3 pc kit for around $325 shipped or so but I won't know exactly until I send the mounts in and get a confirmation from Innovative.

I just saw on www.innovativemounts.com that they had billet ones for other applications, so hopefully ours will be next.

I've been an Innovative dealer and sponsored for a while. Just want to add that all of their mounts are top notch. The TL mounts are very nice. Every mountfor every app. I've used has always bee a perfect fit.
I just received the 1st production D series set for my CRX a few weeks ago.
