maybe that.. i removed the covers on my cat.. but i had the same problem with my megan headers.. i think it have something to do with the 2nd flex pipe because when i soldered a strait pipe here the sound was gone.. but now the welds on my headers (top) are cracked and they are leaking maybe its because my motor mount where busted anyway...

Didn't the dude with the blue CLS from jersey have the 2nd flex pipe removed and a straight pipe added to remove the resonance?

I removed my cat cover , I'm gonna upload it later when I get home I got a better clip. I just wanna identify the sound, and make sure its nothing else. What kind of sound does your pullies make when the belts arent tight enough, because I had my headers and pulley installed at the same time.

A loose belt will make a squealing noise. Does your noise sound like marbles in a can?

Sorry my english is bad something.. dont blame me im french
If you do this, your headers (top part) will have more stress and maybe your welds wouldnt last as long as they are suposed to... (like mine..) but again my motor mounts where busted..
Check post #7 this is my car with the Welded pipe ...

I was thinking about doing that when I got my flex pipe replaced but I didnt wanna put added stress on my mounts which are expensive.

ill not be a problem for the motor mounts .. stock one, comptech dcsport etc.. just have 1 flexpipe.. the problem is that the welds on the megan headers are not really solid..

I got em for $100, which is no biggie. Still waiting for someone to get rid of their Comptechs and jump on those. I guess it does sound like bees when you gun it. It doesnt bother me too much , I just wanted to identify it as the resonance.

from my experience, i concluded that the gasket type on those megans are real cheap.
if you look at the comptech and the xs headers...they use the metal ring type gasket and they are seated in a channel on the header pipes.
i had taken mine apart and gobbed in muffler weld and that helped for awhile.
but then the crappy sounds returned.

i had gotten the front flex pipe replaced and it didn't seem help.
if you ask me the buzzing sound you hear is exhaust leaking from the connections.

Damn..I just thought we could just fit that ring in between the flange on the megans but the XS has a bigger outlet too.

some have said this along with the extra flex pipe are reasons why the megans resonate so badly.

Well thats not too bad...........If you ever get a high flow cat it will help reduce resonace,I found this after my RT cat was installed with the megans.

maybe to put less stress on flange, maybe to be easier to fit

i think the second flex is for fitment....for clearance.

me thinks these are accord 3.0 v6 headers made to fit the 3.2.

i had my second flex welded out. no issues here now. personally i think the megans were the best investment i've put into my car yet....aside from my radio.

hey, sorry for the delay man. for some reason i never got back to this thread. all the pictures of my headers and other people who got the pipe welded in can be seen here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...6&page=1&pp=25

still no problems here. there is some slight noise from the headers hitting the subframe at certain RPMs, but the header wrap i put on deadened it nicely.
