JET Performance

Just got my hands on a Jet Performance ECU chip for my 01 TL. I was wondering if anyone has information, experience with it. I got it from someone who has an '03 tl-s, and he said the chip would only work in the '01, but the Jet website said it will work in any TL 99-03, so I'm confused, and don't know if the way he told me to install was correct, he said stuff about getting my keys re-chipped, engine re-tuned, etc...

Anyone know how to install, if so, how easy is it, i'm pretty dumb w/ cars in general.

Also, while i'm starting a post.....I'm really interested in getting a short ram intake, but I don't have the money(mostly for the sound). Someone said they'd get me an AEM CAI that was cut down to a short ram for real cheap. Its probably about 4 years old and obviously used, but I'm wondering what the downside is to buying a used intake.....any ideas would be appriciated.

Get your money back now. That chip isn't going to do anything.

actually, I think this is an Acura ECU reprogrammed by jet. I looked up more on the kit, and it doesnt include a chip, one needs to be taken out of the TL and mailed back in to be reprogrammed. Sorry for any confusion...like said in my first post...I'm stupid with cars.

So anyone think its worth my time puttin in this ECU...what does the process involve?

Anyone else wanna take a stab at the CAI/Short ram question either?

Stay away from both the Jet Chip and UniChip. Neither do very much for our cars, especially the Jet Chip. It's not worth the risk of screwing up your ECU.

no advice on the chip other than there are many performance minded people on this site, and the few that have tried the chips didnt gain any power and some actually lost power - I wouldnt waste my time trying to put it in.

intake - as long as it mounts up fine, has a good filter and tight connections for the hoses and a tight seal around the filter, it should be just fine.

IF someone would get you the used AEM CAI for cheap, why would you want to cut it down? You'll gain a bit performance wise and sound wise. SRI doesn't gain any performance.
There isn't anything wrong with buying a used intake, i bought mine used. Besides cosmetic blemishes you can't really mess up a metal pipe. Make sure it has a decent filter though, otherwise buy a K&N for it.

He's offering it for $20, so I can't really go wrong. He cut it down because Tallahassee is notorious for flooding, and he got a bunch of water in his intake a few years ago, so he wanted to play it safe and have it sit higher up in the engine.

Thanks for all the help, you guys just saved me a lot of trouble puttin in that new chip.

I ordered the chip.I started a thread to find out where the ecu was located and some the guys from here ask what for so I told them.one guy told me that a guy on the cl broad put his car on the dyno before and after.he said he saw a lost not any gains.when saw that it scared the shi$ out of me so I sent it back and had to pay a 25% restocking fee.a small price to pay not to have a screwed up ecu.do a search and you can find some threads about the jet chip

Yea, I'm definetly not messing with it...I mean it was free, but I'm not going to be racing my car or anything...I'd rather do some cosmetic work. I saw some up on E-bay...i might throw it up on there and see if anyone wants it.
