i asked the guy to replace the mid-muffler with straight pipe so he put it on the lift so i could point to exactly what i wanted removed. make sure you dont go to Midas or anything like that. they charge a fortune. i went to a custom exhaust shop and got it done for 60 bucks, although ive heard people getting it done for 35. not here in new york they didnt...

got mines done for $40. make sure you point out which one is your midmuffler (the big can right before the Y splits). and make sure you tell them to use one of the stands to hold up the rest of your exhaust while they're cutting off the midmuffler.

they forgot to last time so right when it got cut off, my whole exhaust hung violently towards the floor.. pulled out some wires from my o2 sensor .. took them awhile to figure out which pin goes into which hole cause all of the pins fell out when the exhaust dropped.

just saving you from some trouble .. good luck !

Another thread about this mentions CAI being louder than the MMD above 3,500-4,000RPM. Would that still be the case without CAI? In other words, is the MMD effect only noticeable at low RPMs period?

^ in the drivers seat yes. I think you hear a noticeable difference throughout the whole rpm band from outside the car. Look at the flyby videos in other threads and youtube.

The video I saw on here had an aftermarket exhaust resonator and Magnaflow mufflers, so hard to tell the true difference of the mid-muffler delete.
