Front License Plate Mounting

Hey guys, i just bought my 2000 TL-P from a Philadelphia owner. As you might know they only require a license plate on the rear bumper. It didnt come with the front license plate mounting. I dont want to just stick the plate on the front bumper directly because it has a little v shape on it. Do you guys have any suggestions on where I might be able to find it?...i tried ebay but they dont have....anybody have one for sale? Thanks in advance

I cannot stand havin the license plate mounted on the front bumper! The car looks so much better without it. But since you're in NY and they require having the plate mounted in the front and rear, you can consider this: there is a 'plastic sleeve' device with suction cups on the back surface that the license plate fits into, you can stick that right onto your windshield at the bottom on the passengers side. Its kinda wack but in my opinion it is better than drilling your bumper....you can take the plate off anytime you want to when its suction cupped onto your windshield.

There are 2 threaded holes on the underside of the mid-bumper where the acura mounting stuff goes. I just got some bolts that fit the holes and then bent my licence plate a bit and screwed it in

but i really want the black mounting piece that i see other NY'ers have...one that is already shaped like a V on the underside so your license plate lays flat..instead of me having to bend it.

Do you think an acura dealership would have it...i tried calling them but they never pick up...i leave a message and no one ever returns my calls.. they probaly dont care about selling a little piece of plastic to someone. I'm about to steal one off another 2nd gen TL lololol...j/k that would be mean

hey mezzer..that looks really good dude!..too bad my bumper already has holes in it already (in fact..it freakin has 3 holes in it) I paid a friends friend to do the registration process for me because i was too lazy (bad idea)...well they screwed in the license plate...drilled a hole in the middle bent the plate on each side..and bolted the other two sides..so it freaking has 3 holes..if i use your set up now..i will see 3 holes on my front bumper (not pretty on a white car)....and Yeah i was really pissed, they were like.."i didnt want you to get a ticket"...%#@^ he could have freakin put it on the dashboard for the meantime.

Now if i had that license plate mount..it would cover all those holes..and maybe even protect my car from those "inexperienced drivers" that run into your car when they parallel park.

I've been searching for like 2 weeks already and i still cant find it =(

Worst comes to worst..I'm going to have to go to like a junk yard and see if they have any...or steal one off another TL (haha...nah thats mean)...or maybe patch the holes up?...is this possible...i mean like really patch it up..not like putting on those caps that cover it.

to me that looks like your car has a bucktooth.

FaydOilspire: Go to your Acura dealership they have front plate mounts that have the V-shape in them already designed for our cars so your plate doesnt touch your bumber but it sits totally strait. They should give you one for free or at a very nominal fee. They should even put it on for you (at the dealership you bought the car from).

yeah i noticed..but atleast you dont have 3 holes in your bumper =P.

There's a TL-S parked right outside my place...if i was brave enough..i would go out at 3am in the morning and take his license plate mount!! (its raining today too...nobody will be out)...but nah..bad karma..the luck might come back to me and they might steal my body kit or something lol.

I got it! finally. Acura of Manhattan ordered it for me, cost me $7.85 including tax, i guess its not as pricey as i thought. I even got some free calenders too lol.

Install was a bitch...i didnt have the right screws..and then i had to drill an additional 2 holes into the bumper..not cool...if u take off my mount now..i have like 5 holes...because the plate was previously mounted on w/ 3 screws. (whatever..its concealed now..i'm happy.

Dude, just go to the dealership for the front mount. It costs around $10. You don't have to make up an excuse. You will have to get your own bolts though. Just pick them up at Home Depot or something.
