fog lights

It looks like stock lights are long ago discontinued, if they ever existed. Any alternative suggestions?

I do not currently have any, so would need to mount and get a harness.

The fog lights on Rockauto are a great replacement. TYC brand. very happy with them. there are some manufacturers out there, that make a plastic lens for the fog light, but I have heard that the lamp gets really hot and melts the lens? your call on that.

In general the most popular parts in each category (denoted with a heart emoji) are pretty spot on for good results,

Don't forget to use the 5% off coupon code, should be posted somewhere here on the site.

Unfortunately, RockAuto stopped being a sponsor on this site so no longer a 5% coupon code available here. however i just usually google for a RockAuto code and it's readily available

I'm looking at the shape and size. The Rock Auto options seem way longer than the opening.

Both TYC and the DEPO brands shown fit. If you need bulbs too, the DEPO ones come with bulbs fwiw. They make nice daytime lights when you rewire the switch on the dash

Well that's surprising. I should look up the dimensions. My opening is about 5" wide at the top and about 7" at the bottom. About 5" tall.

These look wider and thinner.

That's the wrinkle. I'm looking at pic of the 2003. The opening on the 2001 is closer to a square than a rectangle. I also learned this year did not originally have fog lights. Some suggestion that an inspire ser may fit.

Well, ok, that is clearer info now (2001, base model). The bumper cover is different. You could change the cover to allow for the lights on RA, or find some to fit. Since it didn’t come with lights there, you’ll need wiring too. Can I suggest a walk through your fav local junkyard? Look for a TL with the lights to get the harnesses, and dash switch, and measure up other car lights to what fits best for your base ‘01?

That's about where I am. I see the 98 inspire is the same as a 2001 tl and the uc1 seems to have the same shape. But there is something about lh or rh drive.

Not sure I can assist with the LHD/RHD questions on a Japanese market Honda Inspire. Still, make a template of the current opening you have and understand the mounting provisions you may/may not have behind your current black plastic closeout bumper pieces.
Head to the junkyard for the wiring/switch, and then try to match the size opening to any car there. FWIW, if you put a smaller (round?) light in only the plastic it is likely to shake/vibrate/bounce if not support beyond connecting it to the black plastic closeout piece.
Best of luck in your searching!

That has me thinking about the support structure. 2002 and on have foglights and I assume a structure to prevent wiggling as you describe.

I imagine I need something more than the bumper cover.

you might want to try searching for 1999-2001 acura TL fog lights. I see a different shape when I do, which suggests that there are some solutions out there.

I dug a bit more into how other years secure the lights. They apparently have a type of bracket, while the 01 is just plastic and sure to bobble.

However the Inspire has all the stuff and coincidentally there is a listing for a cover and another for the harness/switch. Now, I'm faced with the decision of how much i want this. $$$
