exhaust piping

What's the diameter of the stock axleback piping for the 02 TL-P ? I want to weld on mufflers just making sure the inlet is the correct size. Thanks.

Should the inlet of the muffler be 2.25" or 2.5" for the TL-P's?

its a personal choice really
your gna have to get some small piping from muffler inlet to your pipes
one size to match the pipes, the other tip stretched out to fit over your muffler inlet

go with 2.25 since ur stock piping is already pretty small. it would give you a better flow.

what type of mufflers are you going to put on?

Exhaust Diameter is 2" for the TL-P. 2.25 for the TL-S. After the Y it does seem to narrow down though.

i had about 5 different sets of exhaust with diff size piping. i think i finally found a setup i like

flowmasters, ud probably wnt to stick with the classic 40s delta flows, they are designed for newer cars and are probably the only ones that you can find that will fit a tl perfectly.

flowmasters are metalic. i mean straigh metal. thick heavy metal.
therefore the sound will be metalicish(??)..
i had a setup of cat, factory piping, mid muffler delete, and 2 flowmasters. it sounded good. pretty loud. but there was A LOT of in car resonance and vibration.
if you have subs, forget enjoying them, ever. if ppl are going to talk in ur car, they better be right next to your face.

just today i got a new setup, (because of a little stupid accident of backing into a curb, and bending my piping)

from header down, i have a 2.5 inch piping, with a 24 inch resonator pipe in the middle, back to 2.5 piping, no mid muffler, into a magnaflow muffler. it sounds great, and its smooth and comforatble inside. no vibration, or EXCESSIVE sound. i can listen to my subs again. oh btw. i have no cat. and its single exhaust now instead of dual.

i gained more power, with single and no cat.
dont go over 2.5 piping. u'll loose power

but if you are serious, id recommend you saving a bit and going with magnaflows. better perfomance, better sound. and its all chrome and shiny instead of a dull metal chunk.
