Exhaust Pipe TL-P

I have an 02 TL-P.

After hearing some mixed reviews about removing the mid-muffler and exhaust resonator from the TL-P, I decided to go ahead and get rid of them. Strangely, when the car was lifted at the shop, I found out my car only has an exhaust resonator (apple juice box), but it had no mid-muffler. Is the mid-muffler only present on some cars?

Either way, I ended up just replacing the exhaust from the cat to the Y pipe with a bent 2.5" aluminized pipe. Is this ok? I'm planning to replace the stock Y pipe with a 2.25" Y pipe. Not sure if I'll replace the mufflers.

As for the results, I honestly can't hear the difference beyond any placebo effect. I wanted to get stainless steel, but the guy said he can't bend that. Also, I live in Arizona so rain/rust isn't the biggest deal.

Any feedback would be appreciated, as I want to make sure I didn't royally screw up somewhere.

Whoops, I mixed up the exhaust resonator and the mid-muffler. Yea, I only had the mid-muffler.

With the 2.5" pipe from cat to the stock Y pipe, there is ZERO rasp or drone. There is a very slight difference in tune and sound, but not significant enough to notice without hearing for it.

But I might just be deaf/inexperienced, as I also heard no difference after taking out my intake resonator.

you only hear the effects of an intake resonator removal at WOT (wide open throttle)

After reading some reviews, I found that Performance Muffler at 19th Ave and Cactus seemed to be the best. He only charged me $40, and he did a great job. I'll hear for the difference when I take it out tomorrow. Should I be listening at low RPM or high RPM? Does being at WOT make a difference?

Why would you replace the mid muffler with 2.5" pipe when the stock pipe is 2"

That's not a bad price. Got mine done for 60 at mad hatter mufflers on 91st and olive. You'll notice more at lower rpm. I'm guessing you're in phoenix area?

I replaced the entire pipe from the cat to the Y pipe with 2.5" aluminized pipe. I'm hoping to then change the Y to 2.25" leading to new mufflers. Is there something wrong with my plan? Sorry, I'm just experimenting, so I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to change the stock pipe size.

I've got three houses. One in Glendale, another in Phoenix, and a last one in Tucson. I enjoy driving, haha.

Tsudo offers these nice sounding axle-back mufflers to add to your upgraded piping.

$325 bux free shipping.

Give your TL-P a mellow deep tone like Nissan G35/350Z

BTW heres a vid i found of these canisters on however stock piping. Yours should sound ever more mellow and deep than this car due to you cars slightly larger piping.

Mid Muffler deleted... (slightly raspier to me but thats what mid-mufflers are supposed reduce in the 1st place)

Stock TL-P sounds the smoothest. Most like G35...

Wow, I just heard it from the outside today. Yea, there's a big difference. I'm actually pretty happy with the way it sounds now, as there is no droan/raspyness and is still aggressive. Either way, my mufflers are damaged so I'll still look around and experiment further.

Also, thanks for the input ParaSurfer. That helps me out a lot.

My name is Desmond. Its in my sig to use. Im not scared if you know or use my name..lol. The purpose of adding the mufflers is to free up 'the flow. U added larger piping to then have the exhaust flow slowed by the stock smaller diameter exhaust. Defeats the purpose of upgrading the piping. U are gaing nothing until you upgrade the muffler As of right now your money is being wasted. go from no gain to 5-10hp added.
