Exhaust install

So on their way to my house are 2 magnaflow 14416 polished round body 2.5 inlet center/center mufflers.
To: anyone who has done exhaust work before, how labor intensive will it be to replace the stockies with the mags? just looking at how much to expect going into the exhaust shop....

Do it yourself...So easy.

Get a can of pb blaster/wd40 for exhaust hangers...just to make it that much easier for you...And a ratchet and some sockets and about an hour. Save yourself the money.

Its like 4 bolts. Unbolt old, bolt-in new, done.

Spray the old bolts in advance with PB Blaster.

an impact gun and possibly a torch will really help with exhaust work for any cars that have seen salty roads.

PB blaster doesnt cut it for my exhaust.

+1

get your car on a lift or ramps or jack stands, then...
soak the nuts and bolts with the pb blaster (wait and come back to it) and wd40 where the muffler arms go through the rubber hangers. i did my catback by myself, but a helping hand is nice when adjusting the flanges.

Its not an axleback. Its 2 mufflers like I said? which would require cutting and welding

An axle-back exhaust is exactly that, the mufflers only. Whereas a cat-back exhaust is a full exhaust which includes the mufflers + piping to the catalytic converter.

For our cars the mufflers just bolt on.

^ the magnaflow mufflers that the OP ordered will require cutting and welding, just as the OP said.

take it to an exhaust shop. it wont be more than $120 at the most. good price is around 75-100.

I work at a shop and we would charge an hour for this which would be right in the range. Give the guy doing it a bottle of jager and it will be less!

thinking maybe i should just get the guy to build an axle back and weld it to my mgnaflows then just unbolt and bolt on? which would be cheaper?

I'm pretty sure he would have to replace some pipe coming from the Y back anyway, because there are so many damn connectors on the pipe.

well the mufflers you ordered are 2.5 in/2.5 out. so you would need new pipe anyways. TL-S exhaust is only 2.25in and might be even less after the Y-pipe.

well i rather have the larger inlet/outlet and use pipe size converters than to use 2.25in mufflers

IMO, those won't look too good back there... They look similar to Dosmetic style mufflers for like a mustang catback.

Well thats why i ordered small diameter mufflers, but im also going to take some metal polish to them before they get installed. they look hella dirty right now since the plastic they are wrapped in is filthy. i'll take more pics when i unwrap them. probably wont get them installed for a few weeks. got to to make more money since i spent it all on these lol.
