Lightweight aluminum pulleys are a great inexpensive mod to get you hp/tq across the entire RPM band. Some cars actually have dampers built into them but not typically in newer cars. Some cars are revving 2-3K over the factory redline or are pushing 3-4 times the stock hp in which case you would want an aftermarket damper like ATI or Fluidampr b/c the factory pulley does not incorporate a damper to dampen the vibrations from the additional revs and hp. However, most of us are at stock redline or maybe 1-2 times the stock hp in which case the aluminum pulley would be fine, esp on the J series. The J series responds well to the pulley and there are a number of 2nd gen TL/CL members with more than 100k with the pulley.

No doubt filled to the brim with new found automotive knowledge after time spent sitting at the master's feet. I shiver with academic delight just thinking what that must have been like.

WOW! LOL!!!! I hate the know it all's. I'm a n00b and proud to admit it! Thats why I joined the site.

So in the spirit of this thread......Headers or pulleys first?? I know, dumb question but had to ask. I value your opinions greatly!!! If I had found this site earlier I might not have put effin $3000 into a stereo and more into mods.

Not a dumb question at all.

If you want add'l power across the entire rpm band, get a crank pulley (not pulleys).

If you want more power high in the rpm band, get headers.

Look at his link in sig for his website and work number and call him. It will be faster.
As for gains the pulley adds around 10. Every thing working in conjunction with one another helps.

Man this is one of my favorite threads. I love it when tools get punked. I got a lot of laughs reading this one. All the shit talkin aside, I plan on doing both of these mods in the near future but I was wondering wich is an easier install. I know both have some moderate difficulty, but wich is more likely a DIY project?
